Local WBC Council votes:
(Downlands Ward)

I've just received my postal voting forms, and I find it puzzling that just one candidate
refuses to show their home address.?
That is the Labour Candidate, a Mr Murphy.
Previously has shown a Chaddleworth residence.

West Berkshire and Newbury Town Councils have a couple of Labour Councillors with no address shown. Perhaps they are too embarrassed to let neighbours know they are standing for councilors?
As the Nationals have proven that democracy is now dead is there any point in voting?
Of all the candidates standing there is not one that I can vote for so therefore will be spoiling my papers! angry.gif

Indeed. If some of the more liberal conservatives came together with sone of the more right wing labour party members you could have a party that gains traction very quickly. It didn't take Macron long to go from relative obscurity to President of France. All that is needed is a charismatic leader with a positive message. Not sure who that could be though.

Is that not what happened with Tony B liar and look what happened there? blink.gif

If you vote for this man NOW, you're either.

A, Antisemitic.

B, Racist.

C. Just don't care.

Or like myself and a growing number, we feel disenfranchised, we have no one candidate or party we feel represent the ordinary worker or who we want to vote for!

It’s a money raiser, not a saver; to plug a funding gap.

But only if enough people opt, or can afford, to pay for it. And with all the suggestions that it will increase the already increasing fly tipping it may actually cost more perhaps? unsure.gif

The NWN says that West Berkshire Council consulted with the residents? Does anyone know anyone who was consulted. Thought not!!

Of course there was a full consultation as usual, a shout round the WBC office, all those in favour sa aye! rolleyes.gif

Can't see the issue. Aren't the political big thinkers trying to legalise the sale and use of recreational drugs? There was a campaign just a few months back trying to get supplies to a young boy whose chronic medical condition could be alleviated if he could access such drugs. We've managed for years with the consequences of people misusing alcohol after all said and done.

We have enough zombie types occupying our council chambers without more roaming around the town. Still a lot of people say that Newbury could do with some spicing up! rolleyes.gif

I do believe he is trying to suggest that you try to locate all sources, other than mega rich press barons of course, even if they do not agree with your currently held opinions?

It doesn't help when the opposition is outnumbered 12 to 1.

We may complain, but it is the electorate, us, that puts them in place (and the council officers who tell them what to do).

Do the council make anything from recycling? I would have thought that would be a Veolia perk.

I may be incorrect on the Council making money, not sure to be honest I know a neighbour who is a keen gardener buys it. But the point is that all the current kitchen waste etc will now go to landfill which creates tons of methane when slowly rotting in landfill. Unless of course all the present green waste bins are paid for?
Can you really expect that to happen? rolleyes.gif

Vegetable peelings, tea bags, etc. However good you are there is always food waste in any good kitchen. and not everyone has facilities for making home compost. rolleyes.gif

The council tactic is obvious - slap on a charge and hope no one pays it, then stop the collection alltogether and save the £900k they currently pay Veolia to collect it.

But then there will be far more going to landfill as people will put food waste etc and obviously grass cuttings, in bin bags, in the general waste bins. Also less green waste going for composting which I understand the council currently make money from! rolleyes.gif

Yet another money making idea thanks to those who can not see further than their nose. Similar to the old train ticket scam using a platform ticket and six of us could travel for a 6d, all we need is one ticket a photocopier and an ebay account.
Halcyon days. wink.gif

So those who opt out will get a reduction on the Council Tax bill then as they are paying for the green bin collection at the present time?

That's the idea, glad we're finally on the same wavelength. I take it we can count on your presence at next month's meeting of the bloated capitalists club? And what shall I tell the menial on the gate you'll need a space in the courtyard for? Your jet, your limo or might you be turning up in your yacht?

Much appreciate the kind invite but of course you should be aware that us truly wealthy top elites are semi recluse and very rarely socialise except with a very few selected individuals.

There is also the delicate balance of not being seen as too ostentatious that is why you may perchance see me around the local lanes riding my hybrid bicycle. I do of course have to be kept within sight of my security detail. rolleyes.gif

Good for you, I can't get a jet to land in my back garden, the Heli comes in quite nicely though. So much nicer door to door.

Yes of course helicopter for local national journeys.
Probably do have enough space on the estate for landing the jet but it would probably be too much trouble to sort out the planning permission. And of course being environmentally aware I do try to keep flights to the minimum. Time for us superpower CEO's is very important and I cannot risk being held up in the dire traffic snarl ups that is our road infrastructure at present even though the Bristol is quite comfortable to travel in. rolleyes.gif

I personally don't own a helicopter, cost Vs usage didn't work for me. So we just hire one when we want one, usually it's for the f1 and Ascot so it wouldn't make sense.

Helicopter for F1? Why I would not dream of that I use the executive jet of course! rolleyes.gif
