On my daily jaunt through Newbury I spied a musical feast by the youth of Newbury. Young lads playing various sorts of music for the enjoyment of the many of people who were doing their shopping between 10 am to 2pm. Crowds clapped, kids laughed and sat mesmerised, but everybody enjoyed themselves. Only one thing spoilt it was the buses insisted of breaking up everybody's jolality and force people on. You'd think the council would have organised things better and suspended the bus service through Newbury while the youth of Newbury performed.

This was put on by the event new manager Caroline Paus. Going by the results she seems to have got things just right. Well done. It is exactly what Newbury needed; beautiful girls in mini skirts, cyclists on wearing their shorts (ok, me) and happy go lucky revelers. And of course the weather h-ot

Turn the empty shop behind them into a live venue/alternative nightclub.

That sounds a good idea, however, i like the idea of an outside venue.

Outdoors might be a good idea, except there will be people who think it just sounds like a din! Having an open mic would increase the likelyhood of this.

Having a walking live arts center on the high street sounds like a good idea and is weather proof. It would be a unique 'selling point' when compared to other towns. Live bands could just book a spot during the day. This is the sort of thing you have in Camden High Street for instance.

Whatever they decide it will be nice to have more of these sort of events. People really enjoyed it and it broke up a mundane Saturday excursion.
