It's all bollocks.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53221435

Terrible for those afflicted...but let's protect the ill but get on with our lives. In 20 years tomorrows adults will look back on us as twats.

I am still waiting clarity on the of the risk factor between those with underlying health problems and the rest who are otherwise healthy?
If, as I suspect, the disabling effect of infection on the "healthy" is no greater than seasonal flu then it raises the fundamental question,
"why are we not managing the country in two halves?" We have been aware for a long time of the fall in personal well being amongst the populace of the western world, what with increased obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle all contributing to poorer health it now looks like that particular piper is being paid his due.

Looks like another wave might be on its way.

We haven't finished the first wave yet. There are still over 100 people dying a day some days of the week at the moment.

But are they dying OF the virus or WITH the virus?
And where?
I wish we were given more information.

They only say is that you tested positive. They will put Covid and something else as the cause of death, but it gets counted as Covid.

A NHS friend said the actual covid rate is 15 to 20 K less directly to covid.

In the states the hospitals are getting around 15K as soon as you walk in through the door. The hospitals are fleecing the insurance companies, and they are fleecing, gov't and the people. Same thing about what killed you.

In some countries such as Russia, China and other of those socialist type countries we will never know the real count.

Having been bombarded with news on the impending mandatory wearing of face masks I thought it prudent to preliminary source their availability. Have you seen the price? From a unit price of 50p.for something that is at best of partial use and worse of no use at all. Are they in the real world? For a disposable item every time I visit a shop my food bill instantly goes up by that amount. It's akin to a hike in VAT, so now I shall look to having my food delivered and so add to the pollution problem and more will have respiratory problems. angry.gif

And before some bright spark tells me they are re-usable, ask yourself how advisable is that?

You got a better deal than me. I purchased 20 for £15 in Boots the other day so a unit price of 75p for me.

People should not be allowed out unless wearing a full bio hazard suit. If its airborne you are going to get it anyway once winter comes. It thrives at 4c.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like wearing masks and have only worn one for a haircut at the barbers so far. However, I'm not getting caught out again like with the clippers when the government suddenly decide to make it a legal requirement to wear face coverings in shops.

So we can expect a run on face masks similar to the toilet roll fiasco a couple of months ago. Obviously a "Boris the Banker" [sic] incentive to kick start manufacturing... Oh sorry they are all made in China so that didn't work either.

It doesn't have to be a purpose made face "mask", it just has to be a face covering.
A scarf or such will do.

Although you can't just hold it in front of your face so you either need to be able to tie a really tight knot with your scarf or use elastic bands or other fasteners as well as the scarf.

Does anyone know if a face visor is acceptable as opposed to a mask? To my mind they seem to be batter at the job asked as it is an impervious screen and less restrictive to wear, but without clear guidance on the matter I have no wish to be carted off to the nick for non- compliance.

I have respirators so should be ok. As for the masks? I'll only say one thing..when someone farts, do underpants AND trousers stop you from smelling it? 😂

We all know that a face mask of any description is of very little use in completely protecting the user. If we require that level then an astronauts suit with oxygen tank is about the only answer, but it is all a question of scale as to what "man in the street" needs to slow down the infection rate. The problem is that if we all adhere to the directive and the rate falls it will be deemed as the reason for, yet if it rises then they will blame people for not wearing them correctly and continue in the same vein. In other words why did they not set up a control group and monitor the results? Sounds the logical approach but we are not dealing with those of sound mind.

No need to worry the virus has decided not to infect anyone over the next 9 days - so you have time to purchase before it becomes rampant again. wink.gif tongue.gif

So HM gov types shout "test, test, test" from upon on high. Finally testing centres are popping up all over the place along with DIY packages. Surprise surprise the number of "confirmed" cases has risen. Much panic in the world of project fear with predictions of dead bodies piled high in the streets, when the reality appears to be in single figures.
So with half of the great unwashed running round like headless clucks in their useless face masks and refusing to return to work, the other half are looking to shoulder the financial burden before it dawns on Michel Barnier that Britain will be a fiscal black hole that puts Greece on a level footing with the Swiss and heads back over the water to the relative safety of Brussels.

Thanks BBC that 150 quid is going to come in handy.
