Newbury Spring Festival Launches 16-30 Free Ticket Scheme

On April 8th, Newbury Spring Festival launched a pioneering free ticket scheme specifically targeting 16 – 30 year olds.

300 tickets have been made available free of charge to some of the festival’s key concerts including Mercury-nominated avant-garde jazz group the Portico Quartet, acclaimed sitar player and daughter of Ravi, Anoushka Shankar, percussion troupe 4-Mality and the Neil Cowley Trio, dubbed “jazz for Radiohead fans”. These are tickets worth at least £16 each and the festival are offering them to anyone aged between 16 and 30 completely free of charge!

Anyone aged between 16 and 30 can then log on to the Newbury Spring Festival website, access the ’16-30 scheme’ page, select the concert of their choice and input their details in return for free admission. The free tickets will be limited to two per person.

Festival Manager Zoe Seenan explained the intentions behind the scheme:

“The Festival is committed to reaching the widest possible audience and we hope that this scheme will encourage a new audience to experience and enjoy high quality live music".

Now in its 32nd year, the festival will run between May 8th and 22nd as Newbury becomes home to an array of world class musicians and performers playing the town and surrounding area’s most charming and unique venues. Amongst the highlights include the opening concert from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Pinchas Zukerman, Kathryn Tickell, film critic Barry Norman, Ensemble Berlin, with members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and John Williams and John Etheridge.

Not only does it make for a different night out but you can save up to £40 per concert!

Umm, isn't it illegal to discriminate on the basis of age?

Not in all circumstances, or 12 year olds could get served in pubs and watch 18 certificate films.

Age discrimination is employment law.
