Good to see the NWN have handled a difficult subject sensitively by using a stock photo of some flowers left by the roadside (eg a road traffic accident), when the story is actually about a Newbury lad who dies after injuries sustained from falling down some stairs in a car park. Surely it's better to have no picture at all than just some vague stock photo?

If you read the article a bit more carefully, you will see that friends left flowers at Victoria Park where they used to meet. Whether or not it's a stock photo I don't know, but it's not out of place.

What picture would you rather? I wouldn't call the photo 'vague' but obvious that it relates to a death. Wouldn't having NO picture look rather odd, seens as every news article has one on here.

Obvious that the picture relates to an RTA or roadside accident of some kind as the picture is of flowers by the side of a road. And why would it look odd to have no picture? Just because they put picutres up for other articles, it doesn't mean that they always have to have a picture. The BBC news website often displays no pictures in some of their articles. My point is in some cases, like this one, I would say that if you don't have an appropriate picture to use, don't use one.

Isn't the picture of flowers, the ones left by his friends though? Like in the NWN paper?

It looks like they've changed it now. Earlier today it was just a picture of some flowers left by the side of a road. The picture now (although it doesn't load in the main article), does appear to be of the flowers left by friends/family. I haven't seen the article in the paper.
