So the worlds population (or cancer on the planet) exceeds 7 billion this week. We really do need a good plague in order that the planet stands a chance.

And before I am roundly condemned what else is going to stop the human race from multiplying to such an extent that we finish the planet off.

Ideas please....

The human race won't finish the planet off only it's ability to live on it. When we are gone the planet will continue to thrive.

There is probably a new strain of Flu developing that will cause alot of problems in the near future.

Mother nature keeps trying with droughts, earthquakes, storms, etc. but we keep trying to interfere with food aid, etc.

Less time hanging out with older men in Micky D's car park and more time studying Astrophysics perhaps?

As numbers began the thread, I always remember an old Sci-Fi short story.
"The nine billion names of God".

Very briefly Tibetan monks had spent eons writing them down.An American( of course).
arrived with an Apple Mac and said I can do this for you in 10 minutes.
"But Mr Gates, when the names are up, the Universe will die."

Having showed the monks modern technology the task was completed.
On his Lear jet journey home, looking out at the night sky, he noticed that the stars were quietly going out.

Maybe our use of computers and things will bring about a collapse of civilisation, when they fail.

Well we are all of legal age, most in our twenties. Now if I as a 20 year old were hanging out with people 15 years younger than me then we'd have a problem.

Scientists at Porton Down are working on this problem.....

They just need to isolate a few more DNA targets so that when 'the vapours' are released the results are a bit more scientific and worthy of the squillions of pounds that have been invested in the place over the last half century.........

***************

So many 'extinction of the species' films have been made over the years... The first one I remember was The Omega Man back in the 70's with Charlton Heston.... The special effects have become more gruesome with recent films but the message is still the same... You're either faced with the prospect of being 'THE ONE' and left to wander through empty streets, or will become one of 'The Living Dead'.... I don't fancy either...

I haven't seen the place yet, but I wouldn't be too happy about having to hang around in the darkness of the Parkway underground car park for a few years until THE ONE accidentally bumps into me and ends my zombie days......

Something that could be sent out ParcelForce to the other side of the world would be nice.... With instructions for the random recipient ("Mix test-tube A with test-tube B and shake"...) Gives us a bit of time to prepare then and read about it in the papers.....

Follow the countdown....

Spartacus.. There is still a lot of concern over Porton Down Using Norwich City as a proving ground for chemicals
during the cold war. Not always poisons, just how they spread.
I was a child living in Persia. So I know nothing.

I remember reading somewhere that there are more humans alive today than have ever lived in the past. Spooky.
