I can't reply to the present comments, elsewhere. For some years I have followed the thread.
Tough about the Porsche.

My simple point as a non Newbury regular is that there is no signage before one turns left.
I have been wasting my afternoon on streetview!
Once you are on the road one may be distracted by the building on your left. Especially if a visitor.

Only 2 points to make a U turn and escape. Maybe there will be an empty bus behind.
Possibly a bit close....Life is not meant to be easy.

Panic ...Go for it. "O bu88er". Another photo in the NWN .

Sorry for not being psychic. There is absolutely no reference to that in the OP.

Why are there adverts put out for 'Psychic Fairs'?

Surely people know already?

No, you made an assumption. You added 2 and 2 together and for once came up with 4.

ce mentions in his own meandering way that someone who happened to turn left (which is about the only real clue that it could be wharf St) would perhaps be followed by '...empty bus behind' Buses don't use Wharf St but we'll forgive the out-of-towner this error.

ce - I suggest you check StreetView again. A warning sign is in advance of the left turn. As you turn into Wharf St there are more signs. You can't see on StreetView but there are more signs by the bollards saying "DANGER! etc....etc"

If you're driving along and get panicked by a bus behind you and decide to put the foot down and "O bu88er" then I suggest you sell the Porsche and use one of those empty buses as you're not safe to be on the road....

Lets see if this Streetview link works

just before left turn

Warning sign left (traingle) and right (red lettered sign)

closer inspection

and again

For those readers who aren't QUITE as bright as NWNREADER, the attached pictures aren't live satellite feeds... That's why they still show the Zone ending at 6pm instead of 5pm..... wink.gif

We moved into this house over 10 years ago ad we still get (and bin) mail for the previous resident from the Physic Circle.

You'd think that they would just know - wouldn't you

There was an ambulance up near the ones outside George and Pelican yesterday, something was hanging down from a car that had been stopped at the side and the bollards were permanently down, I'm pretty sure another one bit the dust.

I have had another look, Spartacus, and I would have noticed the Pedestrian Area sign, so I would have said "darn it" and looked for another way round. Too many signs though.

Dim and distant past but I might have used the road when it had a Bus depot on the canal side. (Not in a narrow boat though.)
Nice to see that the Google smart car didn't get through!
