QUOTE (JeffG @ Jan 7 2015, 12:23 PM) Why not plan ahead and take some cash with you when you go out? What a fantastic idea.

QUOTE (JeffG @ Jan 7 2015, 12:23 PM) Why not plan ahead and take some cash with you when you go out? Or.... Why not join the 21st Century and get a mobile phone? But as for having enough shrapnel in your pocket that's all part of "The Rule of P’s" which we should all adhere to before stepping out in public. Proper Preparation Prevents Pi$$ Poor Performance etc - Money in wallet (check)
- Trousers on AFTER putting on underpants (check)
- Mobile phone fully charged (check)
There are others but they're the basics...

QUOTE (Strafin @ Jan 7 2015, 09:31 AM) Who says it's someone else's fault? The article in the Torygraph was in relation to a fat fingered driver entering the wrong number. Gel’s post linked that to a comment saying “I wonder how many faulty charges have been made by WBC's partner ?”. I take it that implies that WBC’s partner or the phone provider is the one at fault when in fact it was more down to some careless fingering.....

There are others but they're the basics... I always find engaging brain before setting off helps tremendously.

QUOTE (Exhausted @ Jan 31 2015, 12:35 PM) Best they pop into Barclays to get their IT skills up to date. As seen on TV. It isn't necessarily just about being shown how to do something. This phone-only payment thing is complete shoite of a thing for authorities to do.

QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Jan 31 2015, 01:09 PM) It isn't necessarily just about being shown how to do something. I'm sure I'd manage once I'd done it once. Surprisingly, I can read instructions. For the odd occasion when I need to use the station car park I have pre-registered with the Apcoa app. Is there a similar app for the council parking? If so it would make things a lot simpler. If not, there should be. Not sure where the phone-only parking is - I have used a few car parks in Newbury and not come across it yet.

I have no reason to park in those places. Anyway "just for fun" - what is the procedure? Bet they don't have an app to make things easier - single click parking.

Now installed on my HTC One M8 in case I ever need it. Oh - they want my card details, so shan't bother - especially since I will probably never need the service, and I don't know how trustworthy the app is. Edit: I see it's available in all car parks, not just those three locations that I wouldn't use, so maybe I will register after all. Indecisive, moi?

This is the point I was trying to make earlier. It isn't necessarily about knowing how to use something (re: Exhausted's comment), it is about whether one trusts it. From my point of view, I just wouldn't go to whether they have this despicable system in place (which might be what they want).
