The article in the Torygraph was in relation to a fat fingered driver entering the wrong number. Gel’s post linked that to a comment saying “I wonder how many faulty charges have been made by WBC's partner ?”. I take it that implies that WBC’s partner or the phone provider is the one at fault when in fact it was more down to some careless fingering.....

I'm sure I'd manage once I'd done it once. Surprisingly, I can read instructions. For the odd occasion when I need to use the station car park I have pre-registered with the Apcoa app. Is there a similar app for the council parking? If so it would make things a lot simpler. If not, there should be.

Not sure where the phone-only parking is - I have used a few car parks in Newbury and not come across it yet.

Try parking on-street in Faraday Road, Old Bath Road or Newtown Road with no mobile.

Then that's why I've not come across it. I have no reason to park in those places. Anyway "just for fun" - what is the procedure? Bet they don't have an app to make things easier - single click parking.

They do have an app to make things easier. The service is operated by PayByPhone.

Oh - they want my card details, so shan't bother - especially since I will probably never need the service, and I don't know how trustworthy the app is.

Edit: I see it's available in all car parks, not just those three locations that I wouldn't use, so maybe I will register after all. Indecisive, moi?

This is the point I was trying to make earlier. It isn't necessarily about knowing how to use something (re: Exhausted's comment), it is about whether one trusts it.


From my point of view, I just wouldn't go to whether they have this despicable system in place (which might be what they want).
