Hopefully West Berks will benefit from this.

We have been ripped off for gas prices here for years;

You obviously didn't read the article in enough detail Blake!

The areas mentioned are

England - Cornwall, Cumbria, Devon, Herefordshire, North Yorkshire, Northumberland.

We'll have to hope for Asda to reduce our prices.

And it is petrol, not gas.

Perhaps Blake is American. That's what I assumed anyway.

At the risk of derailing the topic, I never understood Americans calling petrol 'gas'. It's a liquid when you put it into your vehicle.

The educational value of this forum is awesome as mentioned earlier this morning.

I was thinking of posting about Gasoline Alley from the 1970s album. But a comic strip of the same name has been running in American newspapers for almost a century. An innovative cartoon whose characters aged in real time. Baby..Teeen...WW2...
mid life crisis. (Thanks to Wikipedia). Further essential derailment. Petroleum-Petrol-Pet-P ?.

Just looked it up and it would appear that "gasoline" is in fact the technically correct term!
"Petroleum is a mixture of compounds that occurs naturally on Earth. Gasoline is a product drawn from petroleum through a refining process."

Similarly Kerosene/Paraffin, though you might be a bit disturbed to hear your Captain saying "We have just filled up the aircraft with paraffin". wink.gif
