I am sure it has been said hundred times and no doubt will be said a hundred more , but what sort of animals congregate in Newbury's market place. The whole area is littered with the remains of take away meals and physical effect of their consumption.
Someone will remind me just how much the council tax payers of West Berkshire forked out for the revamping of this area only for it to be turned into a cesspit.
Maybe if there is a councillor reading this forum he would care to comment.

People don't bin anymore they just chuck. And when was the last time you saw an empty bin? They are nearly always full / overflowing.

Last Friday.

I have always managed to dispose of my litter safely into the bins in Newbury. Any day. Any hour of the day. And the bins don't have to be empty to do that wink.gif

I am not a councillor so cannot answer how much, but I do realise that no matter how much is spent (and it's never enough for some), it is the lazy scum around in Newbury that are causing the litter, rather than just solely the council's fault. But why not blame everyone but the culprits huh.gif

Unless you actually identify and punish the culprits with heavy fines and public humiliation (eg a month of collecting street litter), our litter problem will probably never ever go away.

You could double the spending each year until there was a 1 collector to 1 dropper ratio and then we might end up with clean streets but I can't see that happening (nor would I want that much spent on lazy scum who want to live in a mountain of waste).

But in the liberal, touchy feely world we live in nowadays, that isn't really encouraged is it?

Even though the problem can only get worse if no action is taken, it is considered far to politically incorrect to name and shame the culprits sad.gif

As the location of most of the town centre eateries, I'd guess quite a few people do.

Yes, the Town can look a mess sometimes but there seems to be a good and diligent crew of street cleaners who are always looking busy and are working well.

You are not going to stop the yobs from littering as they can't keep themselves tidy and presentable so there is no chance of them doing their bit to keep the streets tidy.
You can make your point to Richard Benyon and if enough people complain I'm sure he will raise the issue with the Council

They should be allowed back into the market place, the wharf car park is the wrong place for them!

Over the years they've parked in so many places. Even by the clock tower.
