I don't come on much anymore as I don't live close, but I try and keep up to date with my hometown. I am also vehemently against fox hunting and gave been looking into which groups drag hunt, which ones pretend and which ones advocate fox hunting. Woth support at an all time low, I was surprised to see that the NWN is promoting the hunt and the pictures as some sort of community event, and will be running a "feature" on it in the next copy of the paper very dissapointing.

Quite so, but they must have been aware of the election and the issues. Even in this week's NWN a letter from Peter Norman says spoil your ballot paper if you disagree but can't see a candidate to vote for. Arguably then, the 66% absentees could be taken as 'satisfied with the status quo'. They certainly can't complain about toilet closures, robe gate etc can they?

Yes they can. They are still citizens and they probably pay/have paid their taxes.

I remember using that particular station in 1995/96 from memory, it couldn't have been long after that.

GMR have you never claimed any benefits? You have a daughter don't you? Correct me if I'm wrong though, but if you do, don't you want the best you can get for her? Would you compromise your morals and beliefs to give her a better life?

My personal thoughts, take them or leave them:

1. The more the merrier, you need more people to make it interesting, even if you don't agree and actually sometimes it's nice to hear other opinions. I have changed my mind on many subjects as a result of discussions on here.

2. Not everything is an argument - some people seem to try and "win" at having a discussion.

3. You can ignore people if they don't interest you

4. People aren't always what they claim to be. We can all pretend to be anyone or anything on here.

5. You can get some good advice. I said I didn't like Newbury, User23 told me top move so I did, and I love living in Wantage now! It's one of the reasons I don't post so much now, but I like to see how you all are doing from time to time.

I use my xbox name, I was Strafin Stevens on there, strafing being the act of moving position but maintaining focus on a target, usually with a weapon. And it was sort of a homage to Shakin' Stevens.

I shorten it for use on here.

I would still rather vote Tory than the useless Lib Dems and would never, ever vote for Labour.

Never say never!

I was a Tory councillor but I voted Labour last election. I thought it was the right thing to do.

4 days at college? That leaves three more in the week to go and earn £20. I appreciate that the dynamic has changed which was your point, but it's not exactly making life hard is it?

It's like the horsemeat scandal all over agin. I don't think the act itself is the first issue in a lot of people's minds. It's the deceit.

Annoying though that some VW owners have been getting away with less road tax than they should be paying.
Road tax is now based on emission figures, yes?

Road Tax?

Whilst I think the council leave a lot to be desired, I do not have a high regard for RUP either. I believe the panel based on what I have read.

There are no selfless acts. If people are honest about though, I don't mind. It's the pretence.

I lived in Newbury for years, a few years ago I decided I didn't like it anymore. So I moved! I live in Wantage now and love it. Good to come on here and see how everyone is doing though.

I can't find any videos of the Newbury bollards, but these ones in Manchester take seconds to rise and lower. http://youtu.be/PRCA8MvedIo

They're the police, they do what they want and get away with it. There probably is no reason for them to have been going through town at all.

I like the idea. I think the government and opposition should be different not both trying to be popularist. The Labour Party should be the Labour Party, regardless of whether they think they can get elected or not. Work on the policy, and then promote it. They' e got 5 years after all!
