Newbury Today Forum _ Random Rants _ Forum Views

Posted by: Simon Kirby Nov 3 2015, 10:49 PM

I notice that I http://forum.newburytoday.co.uk/index.php?showuser=1011, but I've had 8,811 views for several months now without it going up at all. Do you suppose the counter is stuck, or maybe it only goes up to 8,811, or am I just not challenging any more? Seems like a fairly random number to stop at.

If any one is like me, I often accidentally click the link for people rather than the latest post link.

Yes, often happens to me, particularly if I'm on the move and using fingers rather than a mouse!

I imagine it's Special Branch keeping tags on Vexatious agitators.

In response to this I looked at your profile yesterday and again today - and I see Rdg had a look as well. Still 8811 - and not counting.

Posted by: Simon Kirby Nov 4 2015, 06:27 PM

Is note that it says: "* Profile views updated each hour" - I wonder if the profile-view-updater has fallen over and no one has noticed. Anyone else's profile views counter stuck?

Hmm, still 2,187, let's see if that's clicked round any in an hour's time.

That must be the number of WBC, NTC Councillors and staff. Special Branch and Security Services have ways through GCHQ of keeping their eye on you without it registering you know! laugh.gif

Still 2,187. I think the profile views counter has broken.

I was reliably informed that NTC were printing off my critical comments about them and keeping them in my file. I wonder if they are still doing that?

To what purpose? Everything on here is open to the public so it is pointless especially keeping it. I have no doubt that all records on here are kept for a certain time.

To be honest once you print something for public consumption anybody anywhere can keep it for their own ends. On top of that there is a search engine on here so that you can find previous posts. Andy Capp uses that system all the time (to check on members) so I wouldn't worry about the NTC printing off your comments. I think it is called paranoia.

The inference is that the Newbury Parish Council have/had a vendetta. NPC don't have control over this forum so it is much more convenient to save snippets that support the campaign and to use as evidence if ever necessary. It helps the councillors to pass on their vengeance to the new set of sheep that fill the council chambers every so many years.

PS: I wouldn't feel the need to go back and seek out what people said if people didn't change their tune to suit their agenda or argument. tongue.gif

And in addition, the data should NOT be retained for any longer than is necessary. I'd have thought there is NO real reason to retain such data, if indeed it has been created.

I've never been allowed to see my file so I can't say whether what I was told was true or not, but I was told by the council that my comments were printed off and filed, and that my file was of a considerable size, and that's certainly possible.

If it were me Simon, I would use all the law allows to uncover what is retained about me.

How were you told?, email/letter/phone?

It was a council officer who told me in person.

I have fought the council as hard as I could, I could do no more. I took the view after my request for my personal information was rejected as "vexatious" that there was nothing to be gained by persuing a complaint with the Information Commissioner because ultimately the information couldn't help me get any accountability or justice. That will always come down to the Council hearing a complaint against themselves.

It amazes me that a bunch numpties can have power of the Stasi!

Maybe it is because those that they represent spend too much of their time with their heads in the sand Mr Capp. We have what we have because of laziness, apathy and ignorance.

Petra

Which will never happen, not with this bunch of incompetents.

Will you not get into trouble for calling the council lazy apathetic & ignorant? rolleyes.gif

Yes, I'd accept that is part of the problem.

Also of interest is that you have to scroll through 47 pages of "members" who have never posted when listing posts in ascending order, but only have to go back 5 pages when listing in descending order to find those who have posted less than 100.
What does that say eh?? (Yes I know I am on the 1st page!)
