F1 has announced no more young ladies on the grid, hmm. Three questions:

Did anyone ask the ladies involved for their views?
Who now gets to hold the umbrella?
Is this whole thing now getting slightly out of control?

Personally I think only girls should be allowed to drive in F1 and then maybe we could have young men in lycra parading around the pits.
Seriously though, as you point out what are the girls who are presently employed in this field expected to do? Tescos here we come.

Doing a job that's not needed, not required and offers no value, because you happen to be a (good looking) woman, is as bad as being on benefits.

But it's a job, and I'll bet no one asked the girls if they minded losing it.

But at the end of the day it gives the snowflakes and some hairy warted woman in a tweed suit and sensible shoes the feeling they're doing something for 'the sisterhood'. Lots of jobs don't 'need' to be done, don't need a greeter at the car dealership, don't need someone to make me a skinny latte, don't need need people from charities ringing me up, but they do. As you say, "its a job". Sadly.

I have never seen a greeter in a car dealership, receptionist maybe. Some mobile and not deskbound who organise the first part of your experience and make sure you're getting the right help. The people from charities are generating revenue for said charity and presumably commission for the company that pays them. The grid girls do nothing to help the sport, they are there purely to look pretty. They don't necessarily need to be completely removed on my opinion but the role needs to be changed to make F1 bosses appreciate the value
