Newbury Today Forum _ Random Rants _ Wrong priorities from TV Police

Financial Pressures

We hear both the Dog+ Mounted sections of Thames Valley Police may be abolished
because of cuts that need to be made.

However, they seem to have money for recruiting more LAGLOs, Lesbian and Gay Liaison Officers.
Wrong priorities for most of us Commissioner Stansfield.

This follows on from closure of the Marine Section some years back for same reason-
despite area having numerous rivers + locks.

Yes but, it will free up the vital resources needed to allow officers to have their nails painted, ride dodgems, harass morris dancers and arrest anyone stupid enough to join a pageant as the 'cool runnins' bobsleigh team. I mean, fairs fair.

More misinformed reactionary nonsense.... probably. I refuse to believe they are getting rid of mounted and dog sections.

When the PCC and all its ancillary's will cost £7,242,000 next year, nice work if you can get it.

From the Oxford Mail:
"CUTS could be made to Thames Valley Police’s dog handling unit as the future of the force's animal helpers is thrown into more doubt.

The Oxford Mail understands that about 13 dog handlers and an unspecified number of dogs could be lost if a budget proposal set to go before the Thames Valley Police Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld is approved.

It follows last week’s revelation that the force’s mounted unit could be scrapped in its entirety."

From the Beeb:
"Thames Valley Police chiefs will discuss the possibility of removing the mounted section by 2019, as they present budget proposals to the force's police and crime commissioner (PCC)."

So, definately on the cards then.

Dont forget the 10000 officers needed for the "someones been nasty to me on social media" arm of the force.

"Help I'm being mugged"!
"Sorry sir we don't have anyone available at the moment"

"Help, my cars been stolen"!

"Err, I think I may have brushed against a lady at a party 25 years ago!
"SIR, stay on the line, I'm sending an armed response team to come and break down your door"

Just Curious though...

Is it a paid position? Is it a full time role or one that sits alongside another? How much time does anofficer need to dedicate to this? The forum is getting upset but there is no detail to this at all. Other than that it is an internal only post.
