I don't know - you try and make a serious point and it goes all silly. Enough of the silliness now! PS I agree that it is unlikely that anyone would agree with Strafin except when I agreed with him in post 21 Wouldn't you agree?

QUOTE (GMR @ Jun 24 2010, 10:51 PM) I also learnt to type on the old typewriter. I went to Newbury college in the 80's and did a typing course. Not the sort of person I would want in my typing pool I'm afraid.

QUOTE (TallDarkAndHandsome @ Jun 28 2010, 03:00 PM) More members of the forum is good news. Say what you feel about things and get your point across. Others may not like your views but if they are nasty to you just ignore them. The more the merrier. I'd like to get to see 1000 members. It will happen.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Jun 28 2010, 10:40 PM) If you go to the "top posters" page there are 32 pages of members.
when you get to page 15 you are down to people who have posted once. Beyond that to page 32 all of the members have never posted!
I wonder why so many sign up and then never post?
Am I right in saying you can read the forum without signing up? Yes, until you sign in, you are a guest. If, as a guest, you attempt to reply/add topic, You get the login screen.

I wonder why? Perhaps it is because there are many times when it seems like the forum is a semi-exclusive club dominated by a couple of dozen regulars who don't like newcomers who disagree with their set of fixed views on every topic. That was certainly my impression when I first took an interest in this forum. I just had to put on my "miserable old git" hat, turn up the skin thickness and ignore the sarky replies
