QUOTE (Turin Machine @ May 22 2014, 06:41 PM) A quick word of warning to those of you with online accounts with the big phone providers, somehow someone has accessed my account details and ordered themselves a nice new phone as well as altering my account details. I only discovered this by chance so I would urge all of you to regularly log in and check your accounts as the problem is rife!
Be warned. That's extremely annoying. Did it costs you much?

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ May 23 2014, 12:55 AM) Not yet, someone simply seems to have hacked in, changed all my details and off you go.. I've now had to change all my usernames and passwords for bleed in everything. Hacked into what exactly? Your account on the remote database? Malware on your PC?

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ May 22 2014, 11:27 PM) It's currently in the hands of their fraud dept, should take at least a week to resolve. but it pushed my bill from £11.00 to £47.00 per. some cheeky scrote in Kent.
AnyHoo, just keep an eye out for similar abuses, quite common I think. Last year a Loan Company whom I will call Wonka took 4 separate payments over 5 days totalling over £800 from my Bank Account. Luckily I noticed it & it was resolved within a few days & my money was refunded, but then I could not believe it when 2 months later an overdue bill from the same Sharks Company for £500 addressed to a person unknown to me was delivered to my address !!!!!!! As you say you have to keep an eye out for these things these days unfortunately & they are very stressful. ( Whenever I see their stupid adverts on TV it makes me feel like throwing a brick at the screen ).

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Jun 11 2014, 01:25 PM) Thankfully all sorted now, account restored and credited. My inline account (which is how they got in) is now closed and won't be reopened. Thanks to the Vodafone team for jumping on it, now just need to keep an eye out. Not much use if it was an inside job is it? Still, they won't hit you again I suppose for danger of being found out. (Remember, the Enigma code was only broken because some daft operator sent a message twice!!). Vodafone need to explain how they allowed your account to be compromised in the first place, alongside everyone elses on the same database(s). Unless of course you did get told ,but haven't told us. That said, if it wasn't through Vodafone, how DID your account gbet clobbered?

QUOTE (Turin Machine @ Jun 12 2014, 10:52 PM) My belief is that the more presence one has on the web the more open one is. Another reason I won't use Facebook or Twitter. Less is best. Very true and neither do I.

QUOTE (Andy Capp @ Jun 13 2014, 12:42 PM) People without a Facebook et al. presence will start to be treated with suspicion! You are probably right. Do you have one and do you use your real name? I currently do not have a current passport and do not have a photo driving licence. I therefore have great difficulty in proving my ID and when I tell them people look at me in amazement! Can anyone tell me what goes on on Facebook apart from people posting pictures of what they had for breakfast? (I know this because I look over Mrs. Biker's shoulder! )
