QUOTE (Andrea @ Jun 29 2009, 03:24 PM) *
I'm with you Amie. I travel along hambridge lane everyday and I travel East (I think it's east anyway... I'm rubbish). I always slow down when approaching that round about because a lot of the time, I find people don't use their indicators or don't turn them on until they've started turning. But I find that when I follow some cars, they carry on at a normal speed and go right through. It's dangerous and it's just as though there isn't a roundabout there at all!

Your right they rarely use there indicators, its so annoying.
I have now started to continue driving over the r/a even though I know they are coming right at me, so they have to brake hard and wake up. I use to stop/slow down so they can cut across me - not anymore!! If they smash into me it will be their fault not mine.

I find a lot of cars don't use their indicators, especially on roundabouts. You think they are going one way, you start to go another and they nearly collide into you. Then they abuse you because they think it is your fault.

If people got in the correct lanes to start with, there would be little need to indicate.

The roundabout at tesco is perfect, the ammount of people coming from greenham who are in the left lane, yet drive towards the retail park is unbelievable.

I understand that there is nothing wrong with doing that if your path is clear. I think the left hand lane is the normal lane to use if going straight on.

Not in this case....the left hand land has left only road markings

I come across people all the time who cut across mini roundabouts and then scowl at me as if I should have stopped. They are normally coming from the right and accelerating so that they can park themselves across my front and have a good old tantrum. If they had continued as they were, and not cut across but gone round as they should, I would have been long gone by the time they got there. Ususally it means they are actually going the wrong way around. Remember you are also supposed to give way to people already on the roundabout

No they don't, well not the roundabout I'm thinking of, the roundabout at the junction between The Triangle and Pinchington Lane. wink.gif

I know the one he's talking about, he was on about the roundabout that comes off the dual carriage way. The road markings are very obvious. Left for the retail park, right for tescos, etc.

Just as bad as people who don't indicate at all, are those that indicate right, and are still indicating right, rather than left, as they exit.

I was talking about the one in the picture, so if you are coming from greenham, you have 2 options, left for tesco/motor park, or straight on for the retail park/town.

there are 2 lanes, and 2 options. ergo the left lane is for tesco only, the right lane is for straight on. The amount of people that sit in the left lane and almost take me out going straight on is unbelievable. and the drivers always think I am in the wrong!! check the highway code people!!

There is only 1 approach lane in all directions save for that from Bury's Bank Road at this roundabout.
And, if there are no markings on the approach you can use the L lane for straight ahead.

I went on Google Earth - there are no white lines to divide lanes on the approaches, save that from Bury's Bank. Unless it has changed since the images was scanned.
