It that what they now call "X"?
I have made a conscious decision to return, if that is the correct terminology, to a world where the most advanced piece of technology is the fountain pen.
Or to put it more succinctly, the "place" where old men go to grumble, before casting off their mortal coil. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Yep..I just use a pseudonym and have some fun with the lefties, communists, climate panickers, conspiracy theorists, BLM activists, Palestinian marchers, trans activists etc etc. So much choice!🤷‍♂️😂

TDH, good to hear from you. This little forum seems to have run out of steam; which is a shame as it allowed us to "vent one's spleen" in a lighthearted manner. None to sure where such discourse is now conducted, if at all, but like the poor Dodo, we must face the inevitable. wink.gif

I had turn to the Dark Side (Twitter).😂

Merry Xmas to you as well Je Suis! Good to know you are still about.

If I could add my two penneth to this non-debate. Firstly we have been at odds with our monarchs since Offa decided to label himself "king of the english" in the middle of the eighth century. Sometimes we changed them mid-term, (Ricky 2 to Henry 4), Sometimes we chopped their heads off; Charlie 1. Yet we have always returned to the basic principle that a constitutional monarch is preferable to the alternative; for reasons all to obvious.
The point is that if we dispense with them at this juncture in time, what's to say we won't regret it fifty years on? All these vacuous lefties that scream "remove the king, or replace him with a family member they personally approve of, aka a talent show for the top job where we end up with the limp lad from las angeles, should take a couple of hours of their otherwise shallow lives, to read up on our country's history and stop appearing as something with the mental capacity of an amoeba, as it does neither you or the rest of us any credit.
And finally the monarch has no power as such. Yes, we bow and scrape like a sycophantic grey seal, but it is out of respect for the office, not necessarily the person. The real power lies elsewhere.
Rant over and back to insulating the loft with all those old socks that have been accumulating in the drawer since 1963.

ps. Our tame watchdog thinks the shortening of Richard to its more common usage is somehow obscene. laugh.gif laugh.gif

I would have liked to have seen a President "Boris". Would have been feckin hilarious. Outrage x 5000.😂

With the queen buggering off, and we are now left with Big Ears in charge is there still an appetite to continue the inequality and farcical cost of having a royal family?

Will anyone be protesting at the funeral or the silence on Sunday? Should we be allowed to, now we are having people arrested for daring to ask the question am I safe on here? Actually yes I am. This forum has never had any sort of moderation.

Your name is on ze list.😂. Plod will be knocking.

Personally I'm just intensely bored by it all.
Sad yep but the wall to wall 24 hour a day coverage is nauseating and I think will actually put people off the monarchy.

Funnily enough I was only think two minutes ago that "covid" seems to have "disappeared". No mention from the powers that be for some time now, (no surprise there), and the only ones that say anything are those hard line loony left types that believe the chinese solution is the answer to a chinese virus.
Enjoy the holiday and don't concern yourself to much over your oh so obvious carbon footprint. rolleyes.gif

Seriously though, it took 50 years for the economic disaster of the old soviet union to eventually force political change, and god only knows how many suffered within the "iron curtain" before the obvious became apparent, meanwhile the west grew unfettered. The only way putin will be stopped is by a piece of lead inserted between the ears, and although I certainly would not advocate such a response, I'm afraid it may be forced upon us, (the west).
But of course johnson and his inept lackies are more interested in their public image, than doing something positive.
What, I do not know as it is beyond my pay grade, but sanctioning some london football club is laughable.

Putin doesn't care because he is not long for this world. If he takes a few billion with him I doubt he will worry.

Not exactly my idea of fun picking sprouts off a frost covered field in the middle of November, but wages is wages, and for a lot of people this could be the answer to offsetting the forthcoming energy costs.
But of course how many people actually give any thought of the process from field to shelf, and like the old acceptance of inner city children not being aware that milk comes from cows, actually care?

Although little doubt HM gov. has everything under control, and all that is needed is a "leak" to some tabloid hack and the empathis will shift to the next "shortage". rolleyes.gif

Start buying mince pies folks.

Cases in Newbury have ten folded.
Most people are near the end of the 6 month protection from the initial vaccine.
Expect to see thousands of deaths per day soon.

One can only hope that,
A. TDH's mansion is situated alongside the water with an already constructed jetty. Or,
B. They have, by then, hired a couple of tankers drivers to get him the fuel needed to transport his "hold" to the relative security of said home. dry.gif
Oh, and if he finds an unemployed cauliflower seeking gainful employment, please feel free to offer him one that presently needs filling in Westminster, as the present turnip is beginning to irritate me. angry.gif

With the proposed reduction in the conventional production of animal based protein, one would think that the annual count of half a million or so expired humans, could now be put to good use.
Can't speak from experience, but I believe it is not unlike pork, and in a curry could be quite tasty.

"Cruising"? Is that a euphemism for driving slowly down northbrook street asking ladies, both young and not so, if they would "like a ride" ?
Or quite simply going over to european mainland on a ferry and returning the quick way on an inflated airbed with a bunch of bearded chaps and thereby bypassing half a dozen pcr tests and saving 3 or 4 hundred quid?

We need to know. angry.gif rolleyes.gif

Both succinct and correct Mr Brown.
We have an extremely uneven road in front of us, one that Johnson and his merry band of incompetents will be hard pressed to navigate. We seem to have lost track of the principle that a chain is only as strong of its weakest link, in that companies such as Amazon may well be making billions at the expense of the high street, but with millions potentially becoming either unemployed, or on reduced income, the proletariat's fiscal future looks extremely bleak, and the first casualties will be the pensioners when they wake up to the reality of the arrival of the apocalyptical galloping horseman of inflation.
All this, along with the worst bloody august I can remember,(and that's a few), not helping the wheat harvest one iota, we are in for a rough time.
Still the "gloom goblins" will help by making it impossible to afford to live anyway. rolleyes.gif

Game over chaps. Time to bug out. Hope you are sorted. I'm going on a long trip at sea. #captaintrips Good luck.

Just a quick prediction.

This Winter will be a LOT worse than last.
I expect hundreds of thousands of Covid deaths in the UK alone.

OMG TDH, have you completely lost your marbles? Not only snogging all and sundry, but making an overtly sexist remark to those members of staff who may be of a sensitive nature. laugh.gif laugh.gif
On the "close coupling" issue, I find myself asking the prospective recipient, (who I may not have seen for a couple of years), of an embrace, their positioning on the matter?
By the time they have decided whether now is an ideal opportunity to play the "virus" card as an excuse to keep me at arms length, or genuinely believe they will die a horrible death if anyone comes within half a mile without wearing full protective clothing, the moment has passed.
So far only Roger, who for some unknown reason has grown his hair long and now wears a dress, has exhibited any lack of inhibition. smile.gif

I'm starting back once a week from now on and then moving to 2 to 3 days a week come the end of August. I don't think we will ever go back to the old normal...and work life balance wise that is a good thing. Probably the only good thing to come out of this horrid crisis.

Not sure if it's banter, or an exacerbated expression of frustration at our present position. It seems we are allowing the whole covd debacle to camouflage the insidious introduction of a neo-marxist political agenda.
Heavy stuff eh? Well maybe a little hyperbole is creeping in, but it seems that the silent majority is being lead down the road to economic perdition without the histrionics of protest being heard.

Okay so it is my triple lock pension at stake, but as there are no shops left to visit, those handful of extra pennies would only wear a hole in my 40 year old jacket pocket. rolleyes.gif

Over to you, TDH.

Well I went into work yesterday for the first time in 9 months. Was rather enjoyable. Got kissed my some very beautiful ladies (it was my birthday) and was really nice to be "normal"...all Covid precautions went out or the window!! Though I may be in trouble for asking the ladies if they needed another "injection"...🤷‍♂️🤣

The surest way of creating panic is for a government spokesperson to say "there is no reason to panic".

Incidentally are we the only two left on this forum? One would have thought contributions would have risen tenfold as an "independent" platform for expressing views on what has turned into an extremely divisive government response to controlling our lives.
Or maybe everyone believes they are doing a good job?

Most people don't care. Could be worse. Australia have only vaccinated 10% and seem to be in permanent lockdown.
And yes...just the 2 of us left!!!

Are you a government adviser affiliated to SAGE, TDH? Obviously you are testing public opinion on how far the great unwashed can be controlled before they start raising a modicum of objection.
As already shown, they are quite happy to be told what to do, and how to do it, providing it doesn't affect them individually.

On a more serious note, queues outside supermarkets by the end of next week, reminiscent of eastern european cities after the war? I'm afraid they are behaving like a bunch of kids with a can of petrol and a box of swan vestas.
Least the "melon" party will rub their hands at the thought of us having to survive off the lettuce presently being grown in the window box. smile.gif smile.gif

"Tattooing while you wait" outlets are springing up all over town. rolleyes.gif

Queues will only form if people are idiots...oh wait...I see the flaw in my argument...🤣 Covid 19 will soon be just attacking the Kidneys, Liver and Heart, as it was designed to do. They all know. They just ain't saying...stay safe.

The only "clubbing" this old bugger will be doing is with a pickaxe handle if I am ever asked to present any form of identity.
My family did not sacrifice their lives 80 years ago in order to arrive at this position.
To paraphrase Martin Niemöller, "First they tried to control the "night clubbers", but I was not an overgrown teenager so I was not concerned".
Mark my words, in ten years time this will be an entirely different country to what it was 5 years ago. (And it wasn't that good then).

Sir Will. You sound like you are not willing to get chipped and pinned. This is not acceptable. I think tattoos and some sort of symbol should be next for the unvaccinated.👍
