There was a pub at the north end of Market Place, overlooking the canal and wrongly assumed that was it. Near Benyon's .
We played John Kongas "tokaloshe Man" on the juke box.

So the Hogg's Head must be the old Catherin Wheel. near the Corn Exchange. Any way I have 2 weeks to find out.

Thanks for putting me right dannyboy. I would have found it in the end.

And jayjay I have a spare box of BP tablets if you do turn up!

Hoggs Head is what was the old auction rooms. Next door to the pub overlooking the river, which is the 'Old Wagon & Horses'.

Catherine Wheel is now the 'Jack O Newbury'

Call me senile if you wish but if anonymity is the order of the day how on earth are we supposed to recognise a fellow contributor amongst the dross of reprobates that patronise this alleged den of iniquity ?
A rolled up copy of the Times may have served the purpose at one time but now it probably has completely different connotations .......... wink.gif

I hope to be there - this is me (I'm the one with not so much hair):

I also hope to be wearing my commemorative "The Great Newt of Orme" t-shirt.

Got the hang of it now. Thanks "broadsword calling dannyboy."

Looking forward to meeting the Great Newt of Orme. Who I think we all respect, and as you know from the
debating society online. I am a pushover.
I ended up debating for the other side.Simon K put a stop to that and swapped me round!

I wonder if any thought has been given to the other forum. They seem nice but a bit alone.

Yes Simon Kirby . I have been trying to fit that one in for a while.I have only seen clips on "100 best movies" for years.
I think I would be asleep by the end of the whole film these days.
About 3 years before his early passing he still had a voice like honey.

ce,

His recording of "Under Milkwood" is my absolute all time favourite piece of poetry. Marvelous stuff.

Don't know why you're getting that feeling Biker, but yes, it's happening - I think at the moments it's Timbo, Nothing Much, On the Edge, andy1979uk, Strafin, and me (you don't have to confirm, but you're welcome to post that you're coming if you want to). If you missed it in the OP, here it is again:
