http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2015/newbury...ll-pet-chickens

Can I please ask that if anyone knows anything at all about who may have done this please let me or the police know. Not only is this a sick and despicable crime but it's probably not going to be long before their actions spread to doing this to other animals and possibly children.

That's how all murders work.
First the chicken, then the babies. (???)

Not particularly nice though is it... messed up society we have today!!

Many serial murderers have a history of animal mutilation when they are young, Jeffrey Dahmer for example.

Yes, I read a few biographies on here. He started out torturing animals and progressed to dismantling people.

I hope they catch those thugs and quickly. I also believe that once caught their photos should be published in the national or local papers. Humiliation is the only answer. What do you reckon will happen to those that are caught? A talking to? A slap on the wrist? After all, some will think, they are only animals. But as it has been pointed out on here, it is the start of something possibly even more nastier.

I read the article and they seem to have left clues. Like tracks and other stuff. If the police are on the ball then I expect an arrest shortly.

Courting controversy here, but can anyone explain how this dreadful act differs that much from blasting pheasants and ducks with shot for fun?

That's a very good point well made Biker1; never mind the controversy, the truth is often inconvenient

It could be argued that one is just wanton cruelty, the other is moderated and is often performed by people that intend to eat their quarry; meanwhile, the victims usually enjoy a bit of natural freedom before their demise.

Agreed, but to my mind there is very little difference except on is legal and one is not, but both killing for fun.

Yes, I'd go with that. In reality the only difference is the legal one.

People often deserve killing.

Kittens on the other hand, are just little bundles of joy.

In my view, people who eat meat are not innocent and have little moral ground from which to preach.
