So, yes, its a very worthy thing to promote elimination of plastic........provided it doesn't affect us.

Precisely OTE, and that applies to so many things in our lives doesn't it?
We need to eliminate all these bad things as long as it doesn't affect us!

Doing no more than the big supermarkets are doing in getting the Mail to push the plastics issue and so significantly reduce their present overheads whilst the customer thinks they are getting a benefit!

Funny how The Mail pushed for, and claimed they succeeded in, forcing the plastic bag issue and yet their Saturday and Sunday supplements come encased in plastic bags!! rolleyes.gif

Or using the word simples at all!

The compound steam engine was used in many applications including steam railway locomotives.
Those which did not use compound cylinders were known as "simple" locomotives.
More than one of these engines would therefore be known as "simples"!.
Reference.

Mine is in context with your OP: education standards. On the face of it it looks like you are ignorant of how to punctuate properly.

Or using the word "simples" in the wrong context? tongue.gif

Quite right Biker, but they did at least move! laugh.gif

Not as often as you may like to think !! laugh.gif
I have a picture but can't be arsed to post it, but the service to Bedwyn during the day was a single rail car every 2 hours with a change at Newbury!

Classic railway mentality, blame someone else!

I'm not blaming anybody.
The railway industry is fragmented and people blame the wrong entity.
I'm not defending the industry or any particular company.

John Lewis can change supplier. GWR cannot.
Many on here think I am solely defending he rail industry which I am most definitely not!I'm just stating the facts that are often misconstrued.
The service that passengers receive is overpriced and, more often than not, appalling and I agree with most of your points OTE and others.
All I try to do is portray the facts as I see them so people perhaps have a better understanding.

Train services on our line are more that double the frequency that they were under BR when you and I were 30 - 40 OTE! tongue.gif

People on here and elsewhere are saying what a shambles privatisation was / is.
I'm not denying that.
People on here / elsewhere are saying that the railways would be better re-nationalised.
I am saying that NR is already effectively nationalised and the problems remain.
Richard Branson's East Coast is being handed back to government control as he can'r meet the promises he made when given the franchise.
We can see how that goes eh?

Yep, and so it goes on!

Signalling problems this morning holding up the Basingstoke route.

Words fail; but thinking about it, as it's a de facto monopoly, on the executive salaries they pay, nothing will change. Presumably this is what Mrs May wants to demonstrate successful free market capitalisim.

Great Western Railways; taking you for a ride.....

signalling problems ...................Network Rail, a government owned company, not GWR.

All cars chuck out pollutants.
If it bothers you that much then cut down on your driving or don't do it at all.

Mr Beynon made a mistake and has made and has accepted the consequences also he has said he is sorry.

If it had been a non-know local person would you all have made such a fuss?.

We all make mistakes and that should be the end of the story.

Because he is a senior MP and a member of the government who are (should be) leading this country. there fore he should be setting and example to us all.
For an MP to have ignorance of the law in inexcusable.
Using a mobile phone whist driving kills people and he, of all people who is campaigning for a "safer" A34 should be fully aware of this.
It is irrelevant that he was in slow traffic. Bad practice spreads like a cancer and people seeing him doing this would think it's OK for them to copy.
The driver of the lorry that killed three people this year made a mistake and both their family and himself will not see the end of the story for the rest of their lives.

QUOTE (nerc @ Dec 21 2017, 08:10 PM) *
How about praising him for some of the good things he has done.

Difficult for me personally to find being anti-bloodsports, but irrelevant in this case anyway.

Inflation is around 2.5%
Interest rate on savings in bank / building societies is around 1% if you are VERY lucky
but..............
Council tax is to rise by 6% next year???

Ironic that he's the one campaigning for a "safer" A34 after the accidents on that road caused by mobile phone use! rolleyes.gif
