I was walking along the canal just before 9pm and three young lads in hoodies were trying to get into the hut in the middle of the park. I chased them and called the police, not sure if they have been apprehended or not. The three youths were wearing dark clothing, with the exception of one who was wearing a light coloured hoody. They were on bikes with no lights, with the exception of one who had a single light on the front of his bike. They made of towards Robin Hood.

If you saw these kids tonight, please contact the police as all info counts.

Saw a solitary policeman at the hut at around 10:30pm but no sign of any yoofs. I was at the cinema at 9pm. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I guess he was waiting for somebody to come out and secure the hut. I think it's time they put some proper secure shutters on it, the policeman was saying that it's been attacked before?

That was pretty brave (and probably foolhardy) of you. If the three of them had turned and pulled knives the outcome may have been different.

I realise that now. When these things happen, you the culprits to be caught, but you are right that it should be left to the police. It will be interesting to know if anyone has been aprehended.

If everyone left everything to the police and just walked by, too scared to get involved, then the streets would instantly become scarey places for all. We need MORE people to at least raise the alarm by shouting at them, even if running across and smacking the yoofs around the ear was a bit beyond their physical ability.

It's an instant assessment thing... if the yoofs were tooled up and had sawn offs then it would be foolhardy to race over.... although it didn't stop that old dear a couple of weeks back swinging her handbag at four yoofs breaking into a jewellers with sledgehammers did it...

Ahh!! The wonder of 20:20 hindsight on a 50/50 decision...........

More a shame - with hindsight - the call to the police did not go in first, while keeping the oiks under 'eyeball'.......

I believe this is the way to deal with such "yoofs"
