Walking through Victoria Park lunch time was impressed by the number of people enjoying all the facilities. Including the new bike thing - where they were actually queueing! Really great - we're clearly getting something right in Newbury. There has been a fair debate about building a pavilion on one edge (I'll say now, I'm neither for or against) which would necessarily remove some of the park.
However, passing under the bridge, it struck me that it wouldn't take too much to replace the moribund football club with a new purpose built 'mini stadium' Simply a crescent with a few terraces where seating could be installed - and games / open air shows etc (including football) could be put on. The Pavilion could then be sited under the terracing.
This would help extend Victoria Park and give us a new multi purpose open air facility as well as the pavilion.
Something a little different - for little more than the pavilion cost! Just a thought.

Good idea OtE. Any kind of building in that area is a bit suspect with the flooding risk, but integrating the pavillion with the football club sounds like an excellent idea.

Oh except I don't work for NTC and your first sentence is a self contradiction and I have nothing to do with finance, apart from that a very worthwhile addition to the debate.................

GMR and KMcC, I have no idea who Andy Capp on here is and although I haven't the time or inclination to check, I don't recall Andy Capp regularly "popping up" to defend me as GMR implied.

On the edge I agree with your comments about building a new purpose built football pitch. We should ask ourselves whether we want a new modern Newbury or make do with what we have got. With a new shopping mall being built in the town centre and extra housing near the race course (I believe) I think we should be proud of our town and look at other areas that probably need refurbishing in and around Newbury. A good post On the edge.

If that was not bad enough people like Billy1, somebody who actually works for the council, coming in with pointless comments such as “all this is doing is feeding you desire to divert a thread into the realms of pointless drivel” and doing exactly the same with his own “pointless drivel”. Then the Iommi activates’ his other names (Andy Capp and Rusty Bullet) to jump in and add his own brand of drivel while attacking GMR. No doubt GMR will respond to create an ever ending cycle of drivel. If people find certain comments unhelpful or “drivel” you do not add you own drivel to pour fuel on to the fire. Of course it was not just those that I mentioned that helped to contribute to the destruction of this thread but the ones I mentioned are the worse offenders on this forum.

What a load of pious rubbish. If the conduct of certain people irritated you, what are you doing posting this waffle? Why don't you take a leaf out you own book and stow it?

That is my point, you have all not shut up but have continued it over days. In your case for revenge it seems (you and GMR are always at it with each other). I agree that GMR is a plonker but you take the biscuit. You not only add to the drivel that has already been said, but you do it in different names. For what purpose I can only guess. I presume you are out of work and are bored with life and that is why you use this forum as a second home. You are the biggest hypocrite and plonker on here Iommi or whatever you are calling yourself at this moment in time. Responding only proves my point. That I do not believe. Not only do you write identically but you all have the same temper etc. My sister who studies writing and often reads posts on here (even though she is not a member; has not got a name on here) said, when reading your posts, that you are the same. Interesting. Billy, by jumping in and attacking and destroying this thread you are not only responsible but an even worse culprit. You said in your previous post that you didn't want to drag it down even more and then proceed to do exactly that. That makes you worse and a bigger hypocrite.
As for HeatherW I do agree with what she says, but as Iommi pointed out, by adding to it has made matters worse. I think this thread would have died a death or got on with the original discussion if it wasn't for her comments; whether justified or not.
I have no doubt that Billy and Iommi, and all his aliases, will to continue doing what they said they won't do and reply; thus creating an every increasing circle. I will agree with Billy1 that I am not in the same category as him.... there is no way I am that bad.

Why not use the http://forum.newburytoday.co.uk/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=ignore function?It saves a lot of bickering as you no longer see the posts of the forum's wind up merchants.

I don't use multi identities either.
That is all I have to say on this matter, let's get back to healthy/sensible debating yeah? (i.e. not suggesting people/groups/authorities are not capable of thinking).
