I'm just wondering and maybe we can get a moaning free thread going?! I listen to a big mix of stuff, mainly hip hop, Nas, Talib Kweli (not so much Lil Wayne and the "mainstream" stuff I tend to dislike). I prefer things with a message. The whole thing about female dogs and garden leaf-raking instruments isn't so good to me. I like to be inspired. But I do listen to soul, rock, instrumentals, and a bit of drum and bass (as I pronounce it, bahhrs) But lately I've been getting into music by artists such as Bonobo, no words as such just the beats and composition of the music. I have quite a bit of Pat Metheny now, my Dad always used to listen to that and I sort of picked up a liking for it too, bit of Bill Withers and I really like Home by the Sea by Genesis For what it's worth I hate take that and leona lewis and anything else which is likely to be played on heart. What other stuff is out there that people like

QUOTE (massifheed @ Apr 13 2012, 10:35 AM) We could moan about young people playing loud music? Or equally the middle aged people who listen to talk radio on volume level 85! I read spice girls, oh mien gott, I have not heard of someone liking the spice girls for a long time! The leaning on the lamp post chap reminds me of Lee Evans for some reason just how he looks.

When I am driving too fast Jaycakes on a motorway. I usually have an old Dylan "live" on the play. Sometimes the ones where he can barely sing. I can play them loud. Nobody cares.
I like thinking of the history of music. Mostly American Folk/Rock. The way that music went from Lincolnshire and Anglia via emigrants, and ended up as bluegrass in the Appalchians. Moved to Arizona in the dustbowl times.
"Hey,hey Woodie Guthrie,I wrote you a song".
So I quite like Mumfords, Bellowheads, Early Bert and John.
I mispent a part of youth up and down areas off Shaftesbury Avenue, There would be a shop selling Kaftans and Patchouli oil. Upstairs were areas that shy guys like me failed to approach. Now the basements were full of jewels. Cast offs by the music reviewers from NME. Gram Parsons, Eric Anderson. The list is endless,I bought stuff that I didn't like, They would always take it back and there was a credit for the next one. ce

QUOTE (Jayjay @ Apr 13 2012, 05:06 PM) Bit of Joe Cocker, Fleetwood Mac, Steeleye Span, Artic Monkeys, even Oasis at times. Also like a bit if classical. Dont really like 'soft' music like Westlife. Which incarnation of Fleetwood Mac? (I lived opposite Danny Kirwan in Southend. Poor bugger wasn't too well). I like Rumours even if it is a bit middle-of-the-road. I like a bit of Steeleye Span too - here's Gaudete

Right an injustice - give Simon Kirby his allotment back!
