Personally, I think it should not be closed. I don't see why so many should be punished for behaviour by probably a very small minority of the total staff and third party suppliers.

Neither do I. Most if not all the people involved have moved on, this is a smoke screen and no doubt with in months we'll see the Sun on Sunday

News International's integration of daily and Sunday titles was already announced back in June. So not really much to be surprised about in the demise of NotW. Certainly not a 'surprise' announcement yesterday as a result of people power!

Nor do I. what News International has done has wallpapered over the cracks. The present staff had nothing to do with it. This was a cynical move to move the focus away from the real culprits.

Can't help but feel that Murdoch has got rid of the wrong red-top.

Who's that then, the tabloid-buying lookie-loos?

It's a bit of a push to say they had 'nothing to do with it'. The nature of their business means they're all out to steal a march on their rivals by any means (foul or fair) in order to get that 'Exclusive' tag every Sunday.... Namby pamby journos are put up against the wall if they can't deliver..

The method of deleting phone messages to make room for more may have turned stomachs, but it's not a great deal removed from hacks digging through bins at murder victim's houses as used to go on in the not too distant past.

Anyway, who's betting that this Sunday's NOTW won't see their highest circulation number EVER..... The great unwashed are fickle and like to be disgusted and tickled at the same time.....

btw.... you should see what the hacks get up to at the NWN.... It would make your eyes water..... wink.gif

NoW closure is an attempt to protect those at the top. Wade's survival is all about ensuring there is someone other than James Murdoch there to take the stick.

Interesting point by Harriet Harman this morning - when NoW closes what happens to the IT system, all those emails (remember they have already deleted hundreds of relevant emails). Bring in SOCO on Sunday morning!

Don't think they could carry on with all the advertisers abandoning them. I am more shocked at the police involvement and the back handers.

I have read the News of the World on and off for years and I will be sad to see it go. Replacing it with another name will not solve the current problem; corrupt journalists and abuse of their profession.
