Multiple choice is a poor testing standard. I got A* too. I got a grade 4 CSE at school, so I have got better.

There's a history test too. Apparently I could do better.

Oh, and I'm the Charlie - it's GCSE results day, not A-levels, that was the other day.

My younger brother did that, he was the first year group to use that syllabus.

I just happen to have to hand the Junior & House Scholarship Examination Paper ( Mathematics ) for Bedford School, 1936 to hand.

Question 7). AB and AC are two straight lines intersecting at A and the adjacent angles so formed are biscected. If through any point X in AC a straight line YXZ is drawn parallel to AB and meeting the biscectors in Y & Z, show that XY is equal to XZ.

By symmetry, XY == AX, and XZ == AX, thus XY == XZ.

What age of child was that exam for?

Not without a diagram.

The grey lines are the bisectors.

The paper does not say, other than it was the 'Junior & House' exam paper.

eight questions, 1.5 hrs.

Looking at Bedford School website they have pupils today aged 13 upwards with 7 year olds at the Prep school....

well done btw - top marks.
