So Graham Jones says the protest at the council was politically motivated. Emails from February show otherwise, and numerous people in attendance speak out to say it's not true. If that wasn't enough, Graham Jones quoted one organisation specifically saying that they had refused to attend because the event had political motivation. How awful would it be if that organisation said that it had not distanced itself from the protest, and fully supported those who were there?

Does he not think before he speaks? It wasn't a political event, instead of trying to make it one he needs to engage with the people who are upset enough to protest. He has been invited to the action group meeting next Tuesday, will he turn up???

I thought the event was organised in part by the Newbury Labour Party Community Organiser and Newbury Labour Party Campaign Manager?

Sorry mate but will you stop banging this particular drum ? I'm getting a bit bored of the tune now. Doesnt matter how many times you deny it, you are and your motives will always be politically motivated. I wish you were honest enough to just admit it. You stopped impressing me a long time ago with this cant against the Conservatives.

It was politically motivated because you played a lead in organising it. You are political, and it was an event about a political decision. By making it so you have probably harmed the position the people think they find themselves in.

I also think that you are being unfair with your line that Graham Jones is making things up. Saying that, I don't see how it makes any difference whether it is politicly motivated or not.

It's clear that Graham has said one thing and others have been on the radio after him contradicting what he has said.

All I would say is listen to what was said on the 1pm news bulletin.

Is either slant wrong? There can be two versions of something without either being false or made up....
Then again, just because I don't like what someone says, or even just disagree, it doesn't make what they say false. Does it?

You're right. He's certainly not "making things up", he's expressing his opinion.

Whether one agrees with it or not is their choice, but to dismiss it and imply he's lying seems to smack of desperation.

Because he said something about one organisation who has since dismissed everything he said.

And User, he is making it up. Certain organisations didn't attend because they were in fear of losing council funding if seen to be protesting. I have it all in emails, and could easily go on the radio and say that the council are putting pressure on organisations not to complain otherwise they may lose their funding. I've got all of the emails and information to back it up, but this shouldn't be about politics (as such).

Graham and Nick Carter have both been invited to attend a meeting next Tuesday. Will they attend?

You have a history of spinning the truth yourself, but if you have categoric proof that the council have threatened, or implied they would remove funding from people who protest. You could have political dynamite.

I know Gary Poulson had similar issues in the past, so it is not an unknown phenomenon.

Do you really think that if RG had such irrefutable evidence as he is implying that he would not go public.?
It's just more of the same old spin.

It isn't spin - just a passion to hear what you want to hear & interpreting things to suit one's beliefs.

Of course he'd go public. But this is classic Garvie. Suggest you have some WBC-slaying evidence of national scandal but then act as if you're above it all by not releasing it. After all, he doesn't want to make things political! wink.gif

Well whatever his motivation he is just making himself look pretty silly and you have to assume that all of this nonsense is being sanctioned by the party he represents.
He has lost complete credibility in my opinion.

The emails are from organisations themselves, so now it is up to the council to establish if the content is accurate or not. Graham Jones said organisations refused to attend the protest as it was politically motivated. The organisations I emailed regarding this came back to me to say they have not distanced themselves from the campaign, fully support those who protested and they couldn't attend for fear of having their funding applications turned down, or fear that they will not be included in dialogue with regards to certain things that are going on right now.

I've given the council the opportunity to confirm it or deny it, then I'll forward everything to the media and they can decide what they want to do with it. I'm sure that when the paper contacted various organisations, they would have been told the same thing.
