How did we get to a situation where on one hand the regional council (West Berkshire Council) need to remove shelter for some homeless to save ~£350,000.00, yet a constituency of that region (Greenham Parish Council) needs to spnk twice that on a visitor centre!

The really scary bit is that to our local politicians it is probably perfectly logical? huh.gif

Well, if you think about it, for long enough, it does become very logical. There are already rumblings that with the housing developments the Parish will be on a par with Thatcham, Hungerford and Newbury which means it will be a Town! Wow! That must surely mean it has to have a Mayor (full hog, robes, chains etc) and so a a consequence, staff, so it therefore needs a municipal office. No point in having staff if they've got nothing to do, so it's fortunate there will be a visitor attraction to manage - the Control Centre. And so, were'nt the people of Greenham sensible voting for the visionary people who made this happen. Hail the Liberal Democracy of Greenham and be upstanding for its first citizen. How far sighted.

Perhaps they will claim praise by having saved money by making you know who mayor as well as Newbury? But of course they will require separate regalia and flagpole though¡ rolleyes.gif
