Newbury Today Forum _ Random Rants _ Predictions: England v Germany.

Posted by: GMR Jun 27 2010, 09:16 AM

I predict that we will win by 2 clear goals and one of the goals that will be scored by England will be by a Spurs player.

Posted by: Strafin Jun 27 2010, 11:03 AM

I think 3-2 to England, with Rooney opening, then Gerrard and then the Germans. They will equalise after half time and then we will get one more before extra time.

Whatever the result.....I am sure our lads will do their very best . Here's hoping the end result is a win for us

Posted by: JeffG Jun 27 2010, 01:34 PM

Dream on.

Posted by: Strafin Jun 27 2010, 04:35 PM

No-one predicted that.

What a load of crap. Bad substitution, bad play, and bad selection. It doesn’t matter if that goal was allowed or not, we were crap and didn’t deserve to win. That has got to be one of the worst England matches for ages.

On top of that Germany weren't brilliant.

England didn't do their best, but their worst. What a load of crap.

Posted by: Jobet Jun 27 2010, 04:55 PM

England were absolutely useless. Very bad performance for a game that could have meant so much to us.

Can you tell me which team had the most possession, the most shots, the most shots on target, the most corners and conceded the least number of fouls?

Clue: One team had all of these and it's not Germany.

Does it make any difference? We lost. Having all the possession or corners doesn't mean sod all if you can't win the game.

You are saying that Germany had less of the possession, fewer corners and more fouls.... so what! THEY BLOODY WON!!!!!

Don't they always...

I think the performance from England was better than recent games, I think the disallowed goal really fired them up and they were fighting hard. The defence was appaling though, Upson and Terry were just awful. Milner wasn't fed as much as he should have been but then in the second half they all just seemed to forget themselves. I don't blame Fabio but maybe we need an English manager to stop dissent within the team, but the players really need to take a long hard look at themselves after this.

Agree...I think the "non" goal was a real turning point, as I thought we were on the up at that point and looking like we could start to dominate a bit, which could well of changed the whole game with the invigorated confidence and momentum that would probably have come.

Posted by: Andy1 Jun 28 2010, 08:28 AM

They played as they have played through out the World Cup only this time they met a much better team. Rooney should have been on the bench based on his performance, Terry made school boy errors and Gerard practically wasted every ball he got. The only turning point from the game will hopefully be a massive shake up a the FA

Posted by: Iommi Jun 28 2010, 09:18 AM

I'd go along with that, except to say a defence can be made to look bad if they are not protected by the midfield.

We depended on Rooney and when he didn't turn up, we had no plan B.

The only problem is we rate our players higher than they deserve. We are 16th best in the world, that's about right.

Apparently David Blaines a bit cross. He is not happy that Rooney has broken his record for sitting in a box for 43 days doing absouletly nothing..... wink.gif

Yes, I guess we are all feeling pretty let down by such a series of lack-lustre, unamaginative and feeble outings by our country's team.
Something is seriously wrong with their attitude in representing England. It is like they don't really care.

Totaaly agree Andy.

I think GMR and others were OTT in their criticisms, which might be down to the fact that they posted almost immediately after the match.

Not that I ever want England to lose, but if they have to I just wish it could be without controversy.

We are rubbish at football. It's as simple as that. Our players are:

a: Overpaid
b: Overhyped

Fabio should get rid of the lot of them. I'd have rather seen the U21 squad play with a bit of passion than that dross. 1 yellow card somes it up for me. No commitment. Just wanted to get away with their 'WAGS' on holiday somewhere expensive. They should be boo'd by all supporters when they return to there clubs. I hope most of them disappear abroad somewhere. They are wecome to them.

Posted by: Roost Jun 28 2010, 01:58 PM

Maybe the squad need a new coach?

Although I did hear they've already got one.....

It's picking them up from the airport.....!

The money they earn on International duty all goes to a charity set up by Becks and JT.

I think the point about pay though is that they score for their clubs week in and week out when they are getting all the bonuses, they don't seem interested in doing it for free.

They get paid for England, plus bonuses.

Apparently, England players donate all their pay for international matches to charitable causes via the Team England Footballers Charity. I don't think there was a single person on the pitch that didn't want to win.

If I thought he was the best man for the job (which I don't, I think Redknapp or Hodgson is as I feel the England manager should be English) I wouldn't mind one bit.

I'm a country first, club second kinda guy.

The only thing that interests me about international footer, is the excuse to go for a pint, and I don't need many of them either.

I think international football, especially the type we dish out, is pants. Played by a bunch of largely illiterate, unpatriotic, perfidious, egotistical nob-heads.

League football every time for me. I'd rather a foreign team win an international match if it contained more of my league team's players than 'Engerland'. In this day and age, internationals seem meaningless, what with the 'open boarder' attitudes.

Let's be very pleased about one thing this World Cup. No reported riots involving football thugs.

I think sacking Fabio would be a mistake every time we lose a big competition we sack the manager, he's only had 41 days with the team (excluding flying back) and that's just not enough. A team needs consistency, and in any case I blame the players on this occaision.

I agree... we should give in more of a chance. Also, like my team, your team is managed by somebody who might get called up to manage England. So I am with you Strafin. But in your case it is wasted, if he doesn’t get the England job he’ll be the next Liverpool’s manager. laugh.gif wink.gif
