I would like the Government to give more free hours for nursery children over 3yrs, better maternity pay, tax break for working families and and help people who are working and not watching JK all day. I think ChildBenefit should be cut for higher tax payers and train fares should be capped. Oh and not to put wine up anymore than it is You?

I'm hoping for fuel duty tax to be cut. Since we are basically paying a tax (fuel duty tax) and then vat (tax) on top of that...and the VAT is calculated based of the cost of the fuel inc of fuel duty tax. That's the biggest bugbear in most peoples lives and cutting it so fuel was £1 a litre would easily fix most of the economies problem But those posh nobbers in power who get their fuel expensed couldn't care about ordinary folk. I saw the increase in personal allowance making someone on average salary £305 a year better off..small change really these days.

QUOTE (Rosewinelover @ Mar 21 2012, 01:17 PM) and train fares should be capped. Don't think they are part of the budget are they?? Not that I disagree with you.

I would like to see: - The abolition of VAT so that we didn't have to employ an army of government officers to collect it.
- The abolition of council tax so that we didn't have to employ an army of local government officers to collect it.
- The abolition of fuel duty, stamp duty, excise duty, and insurance tax, so that we didn't have to employ an army of government officers to collect it.
- The abolition of National Insurance so that ...
That'll do for starters. Add a few pence on the basic rate of income tax to make up the deficit.

Right an injustice - give Simon Kirby his allotment back!

Perhaps a change to an English government with the same powers as the Scottish government and a major reform of the UK parliament where MP's working hours are set, holidays similar to the rest of the public sector and where business rules apply (no boo-yah Etonian carp, no drinking, and a professional approach around). Too much to ask? It would save a fortune and perhaps the English Government could impose some of the changes Simon is looking for

I got two words for you too... **** off. Just kidding Since we are all friends. (the word was buzz) You know how I feel about buses. I would bus to work if there was a reliable and on-time bus service but there isn't. So I drive. I could bicycle but don't have a bike. Can't afford one either right now. Besides I am due to drive 850 miles for work in a few weeks/months/hours...I'll bus that will I?

QUOTE (Penelope @ Mar 21 2012, 04:02 PM) Abolish child benefit, increase tax on fags, close all loopholes, tax recycled chipfat, reduce taxation on diesel, reduce vat to 12.5%, raise stamp duty to 200k, and free chocolate to anyone driving a pink car. I think I said before; have you considered a career in politics?

I shouldn't think Thatcham-Newbury return 5 days a week uses that much. If you want to drive to Manchester (or wherever) and back for an exhibition, then that's up to you.

BP Ultimate, currently £1.519 per litre. Difference is noticable. Still collect my Nectar points It uses more than you might think Average about 32mpg in the traffic. 80% of my mileage is business!! I've had my car 1 year and nearly 3 months. It had 99,280 or something when I bought it. It now has 122,800 on it. Driving to Telford was the only non-essential drive I've done in months...plus I averaged 59.9mpg so
