Here is the REAL treason for man made climate change (if it does exist).
All your school strikes, changing diet, electric vehicles, council emergency declarations etc. will have no effect until this changes.

There are approximately 360,000 babies born per day and 15,000 births per hour worldwide. That is more than twice the number of people who die each day. Just under half of the world's total population is comprised of children 18 and under. The average life expectancy worldwide for new babies born each year is 67

QUOTE (regor @ Aug 5 2019, 03:50 PM) *
Let us assume that I decline to pay the additional charge for garden waste in my green bin.
I am assured that kitchen refuse will still be collected for no charge.
So, if I buy a cabbage from my local supermarket, eat some and put the remains in the green bin that will be fine.
But, if i grow a cabbage in my garden, eat some and put the remains in the green bin it will not be collected.
so my question is "Who will do the DNA testing to establish the provenance of the discarded portion of cabbage?"

I think the key here in this rip off policy is in the term "kitchen waste"
Both examples of cabbage will have passed through your kitchen and are therefore classified as "kitchen waste".
So it would appear that all you have to do to avoid the charge is to pass you hedge clippings through the kitchen on their way to the green bin.
Maybe cook a few shoots with the intention of eating them as they pass through.
Result?? biggrin.gif

No safety review or "safety improvements" will make any difference as long as the standard of driving on the roads continues to deteriorate and not policed.
The only aspect of enforcement is speeding, which is easier to police. All other driving offences are generally ignored by a dwindling police force.
The standard of driving on our roads only amazes me that there are not more crashes.

Last night the council declared they would back a motion to declare a climate change emergency in West Berkshire.

They can do what they like, it won't make any difference.

That is all very well but does anyone know of an online forum where matters of interest can be discussed in a positive manner?
I have tried one or two in the past but they all seem to attract opinionated buffoons who like to "see" their name on screen. Maybe I am asking to much. rolleyes.gif

Looks very much like it!!! tongue.gif

You're right!
Can't see any way of deleting yourself.
Not good!!
Shouldn't worry too much though as, by the way things are going on here, the whole thing will probably removed soon!

Yes, they are a word leader but actions speak louder than words. In all seriousness, the target could be met much quicker than that if more resources were invested into it.

As a race we set ourselves unachievable targets.
If climate change is man made then the problem stems from over population.
Any measures smaller countries like ourselves take will be swallowed up by the inaction of those that don't.
Plus the world population continues to increase, again negating any climate change reduction attempts.
Unless the world population begins to decrease then we are on a futile path. (Perhaps the only way that will happen is if it's done for us?)
Q. What's the most environmentally unfriendly thing you can do?
A. Bring a child into the world!!

Have a great, hot summer folks!! smile.gif

Quite. I do hope they all live zero carbon lives. I would guarantee you though that my carbon emissions are less than these so called protesters.
I travel to work on an electric train and walk to the station

If it decides to run on overhead electricity. For some reason they often stay in diesel !!

It makes me laugh the way that remainers talk about the economic damage that a no deal would cause.
Any damage to the economy caused by a no deal pales into significance to that which would be brought about by a Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott, Lammy government.
Frightening!!!

Surprised you're asking that question!

We've covered this. This is happening right now in West Berkshire as of about 4-6 weeks. Since April. Just have a look at all the slashed prices on Rightmove. It may not be nationwide and any survey data would predate this.

The last one say May¬!

Perhaps the Liberal Democrats should be prosecuted for blatant lying in their party name.

Such a shame, another piece of historic British engineering goes to the great scrappy in the sky.

No plans to scrap them yet, but currently many are in storage awaiting their fate.
Some have gone to Scotrail and some are being retained by GWR for work in the West Country on local services.
