That wasn't explained.

What's that got to do with us anyway?

It wasn't explained because he thought you would know, as I did. When you write something on here or other forums you are presuming the reader has some knowledge of what is said... if they don't they will ask; as you did.

It is nice to know other things and there are many Chinese who live in this country and celebrate in different such a way.

I know perfectly well about the Chinese animal years - just seemed a strange statement to make as if it applied to us.
Us, Iommi, = British.

Is it just the Chinese that do not conform to the normal numerical years then? Do all other countries / cultures just have the numerical years?

Happy New "Rabbit" Year to all. wink.gif

Why exclude those of us that are non-British, and since when have we decided all this is exclusive?

I did not say exclude anybody - just explain what one is talking about. It is not the British Year of the Rabbit - or shall I write that on my cheques? tongue.gif

Anyway - let's leave it there - i must have been in a pedantic mood when I wrote my reply. wink.gif

He didn't what?

He's confusing the cyclical assigning of animals to years over a twelve year timespan with the linear numbering of years.

I'm guessing if you asked a random selection of folk in China what year it was, they'd say 2011.
