Falkland Cricket, Newbury Rugby etc etc.

They lose a lot and don't seem to win much. Is this down to a lack of talent in the area or the fact they are / have been playing in leagues that are above where they should be?

It's just a shame that you cannot attend a local match and expect to see a good close game.

Football is a good sport locally. Thatcham, Hungerford and Newbury were all at the right end of the table come the end of last season.

I disagree. A town the size of Newbury should really have at least a Conference south team. No investment by local businessmen and benefactors.

You'd be hard pressed to convince any business in Newbury that there would be a return on the cash that they injected. I don't think it could be classed as an investment, more like a charity donantion.

I agree with the fact that its a waste of money. It would be nice for the town though to have a half decent footy team and if some benefactor were to come along then all well and good..

But looking at Rushden and Diamons, could we really support the costs of a conference team? Conference South would be good, anything higher then becomes unsustainable.

The right end of the wrong table for a town the size of Newbury.
