I speak Luxembourgish
I read that word and thought 'What??!'

But it seems it's near enough translation.....'Lëtzebuergesch' is the everyday spoken language of the people of Luxemburg

"Native Luxembourgers speak Luxembourgish between themselves. Luxembourgish is closely related to German, but different than 'normal' German. They usually speak French to foreigners living in Luxembourg, as most of the foreigners don't speak Luxembourgish. Legislation is in French. Local newspapers are in German (mostly), with news about France or French speaking places usually in French."

I'm impressed with this person as a 15 year old! But looking at it, they are multilingual for practical reasons.

"Belgium has 3 official languages:
1. Dutch (in the northern Flanders region where 60% of the people life and in the bilangual Brussels Capital region)
2. French (in the southern Walloon region and in Brussels)
3. German (in a small part in Eastern Belgium)

Almost everyone has at least some notice of the other major language, and a lot of people speak the other language. Also a lot of people speak very well English. German and Spanish are also popular languages.

Because a high immigration you will find also big group of people who speak Italian, Turkish, Arab or Berbers. These days you find also a lot of Polish people, and people from other central European countries."

There are three officially recognised languages over here (French, German and Luxembourgish). English isn't as widely spoken as you might think, although it's 'catching on' smile.gif

As I mentioned in an earlier post, most teens can speak about four or five languages here.

Also, I've still not had an opportunity to ask about the education system here either yet....sorry! I will do, promise smile.gif
