I don't but instead as a follower of the established Church and a subject of the Queen I celebrate Christmas!

No I don't celebrate either. I buy and receive presents that I'm obliged to do, and I eat and drink even more than I already do. The common method of celebrating Christmas is just about the least Christian thing I can think of that doesn't involve breaking the law.

I wonder whar burk thought that name up. It's bad enough that we have to celebrate Xmas. Anyway, what do we call Father Christmas.?
Would that be "Civil Partner Winterval Parent". Gets right on my tlts all this renaming to suit a minority.

Why are you trying to perpetuate the myth that "Winterval" was a replacement for Christmas? Birmingham council was holding a festival around this time and coined the phrase as a marketing term.

Why don't you check the real facts?.

I don't believe we are having a Winterval in Newbury, so there won't be one to celebrate, will there?

Why not just call it Christmas? Winterval has more to do with Birmingham.

Such a scary reminder of how the press can manipulate the psyche. Even years after the Daily Wail admits it was wrong the poor old project manager at Birmingham City Council, who used the term to describe a who period of winter activities in the city and not a 'new name for Christmas' is still having to explain the truth.

And still those prepared to regurgitate the mistruth, even in jest.

?

X is a common shorthand for Christ - so Christmas and Xmas are the same word written differently.
