'I was watching a special on The One Show a week ago about what people eat at Christmas.

I was utterly horrified to hear that a certain element of amateur fishermen are plundering our lakes and rivers of fish and taking them for the pot at home. This is not only illegal but is a serious threat to the sustainability of our rivers and the wider ecosystem.

Is this conduct very prevalent in West Berkshire?

If anyone sees this going on, be sure to report it.'

Poor Blake/Jonathan - this is what he posted in December 2011. Perhaps he's lost the plot - not NTC or Rip Kirby laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I saw a motorcyclist come off one afternoon and of course only minor injuries at the Community hospital so off to Royal Berks he went.]

Fascinating - presumably, if you were a witness, you saw it all so can you be more exact as to the date and time etc, please? How do you know they went to the Royal Berks - don't a lot of people with serious injuries also go to the North Hampshire instead? Amazing they (or their next of kin) don't seem to have complained to the local media about it - would have thought it would have been a really newsworthy item, even made local TV ?

If anyone is in doubt, I suggest reading data from the IPCC.

In addition, read Heat; How to Stop the World From Burning by George Monbiot.

I recently saw an article where Peugeot was spelled at Peugot and Kremer Signs spelled as Kemer signs. Later in the article it was Kremer Signs...

NWN: You need to hire a PROOFREADER!

So do you, Jonathan, by the look of things. Shouldn't yours read 'spelled as Peugot..'? tongue.gif

Sadly, the responders achieved proximity, but failed in the basic personal function thereafter. Process got in the way of outcome.

I don't find any aspect of that sort of situation the slightest amusing. I've been there, done that (but do not wear the T-shirt).

Nor do I, what I found amusing was your trite assurance. You've been in the emergency services, really? Big deal - get over it or polish your campaign medals.

That was an embarrassingly badly managed situation and there are many more positive examples to demonstrate the conduct that day was not the standard expected.

'In a life or death situation, where close proximity was demanded, it would've been achieved you may rest assured' - I'm not at all assured laugh.gif

In the case of this one, Glenn, I would say principally to entertain and amuse. Might account for how so few people actually bother posting but just prefer to sit viewing instead. Anyway, you're doing great, boys, keep it up! laugh.gif

I have been asking for these lights to be pedestrian friendly since they were installed. The gap between the 'on island' light turning red to stop traffic and the green man allowing pedestians to cross needs to be longer to allow for amber dodgers.

Who have you asked, and what have the responses been? Please tell us, sounds like it might make a good story for the NWN? I can't take all the drama and generally use the subway provided myself

Jonathan, instead of habitually whining and whingeing on here about the NWN, why not call Brien Beharrell on 01635 564526, the Editorial Director, and tell him what you think, letting us know how you get on? You obviously feel so strongly about the matter, give it a go.

I agree Phil. I think both culturally and economically, things have slipped.

The Air Force was a great neighbour to the people of West Berkshire and is much missed.

Jonathan, you were only a child twenty years ago, what do you base this on?
