Has anyone else in this area been subjected to vandalism in the last couple of weeks?
On Mon 6th at 21:00, we had an egg thrown at our front window and again, at 23:10 this Sat, 1 egg at the window, and 3 at our car.
In the first incident we only had a mess to deal with. This time , they have severely damaged the car paintwork. Having feedback from the local police, they have a strong suspicion of who is responsible and which vehicle is being used,but need more information. Unfortunately, their hands are tied as usual by 'uman rights legislation, as I was told when I suggested a covert tracker be fitted to all such vehicles suspected of being used for ASB. He also mentioned that there are far too many silent sufferers, which is all too true. Just think how many petty crimes may be solved/prevented if all incidents were reported on.

Nothing will be / can be done about it. Even if the police caught them they would get off scott free and would just take it out on you even more. Move house. Sorry but thats our 'modern' society. The innocent are the victims. The perps are laughing at you.

I don't go with the 'uman rites' stuff stopping the Police doing 'sting'jobs to catch local yobs. If that was really the case WBC would be in the dock for the self same thing when they trap shopkeepers selling fags /knives etc. to the under age.
Seems to me a little more effort needed. Lets see some real neighbourhood Policing rather than neignbourhood nursing.

We get that all the time where I live. It is no good telling the police as they regard such incidents as not important. Unless you've got a nice juicy murder, then you won't get their full attention.

Okay....
What you need to do is contact your local Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO) and ask whether he is already aware of an increase in ASB in the Two Rivers area and whether there are initiatives in place to tackle this. It's difficult to tell from the TVP website as the map is too small, I think your NSO is PC Steve Hayward but it could be PC Jo Pomphrey. They are both supported by PC Teresa Allen as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Use the non-emergency number (08458 505 505) and ask to speak to one of them.
The NSO is an officer who has a dedicated role of supporting community policing and shouldn't be pulled off for other duties. He has a good ear to the ground and knows all the likely candidates and local scroats who might be spoiling his patch. He'll also have a small team of PCSOs under him to send out to do the door-knocking.
One of his roles is in supporting the Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs). (more info here: http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/yournh/yournh-nag.htm )
The NAGs identify areas which are 'community concerns'. Normally they target three Priority Issues at a time and progress them through till they're resolved. Sometimes it's speeding, but they'll always have a couple of ASB Priorities which are ongoing. The NAG is made up of police, local councillors, parish council staff, Neighbourhood Wardens employed by Sovereign, local residents, WBC council officers, etc etc... So they are generally able to get the process properly investigated..
Ask your NSO if the ASB you're experiencing can be considered as a Priority Issue by the NAG at the next opportunity if it hasn't already been looked at. It would help if your neighbours or other local residents are also having similar problems...

Failing that, try to catch the perps in the act of throwing the eggs... You might be able to rustle up a decent omelette....

But the trouble is it doesn't work in practice! Yes, you have to crack eggs, but this concept has been in place for a few years now and the kitchen floor is covered with egg yolk. Time to have another look.
What appears to be a calm neighbourhood can be a nightmare if you personally experience the attentions of society's deviants. In that case it simply isn't on gto say report it to your local NAG if you are unhappy with the Police reaction.
Time and again, we are told, and similarly the victims that 'we know who is doing this' - we just want some evidence, or they've calmed down now etc.etc. In fact we all know from reports in the local media that the criminal justice system is singularly ineffective against this low level yobbery. That these people are still walking around, showing no remorse and continuing with their anti society attitudes is testament to that.
The NAGs might have worked, but arguably and perhaps naturally they've degenerated into what is really an introspective status meeting for the various strands of the local social service spectrum. It won't work unless 'the people' start properly to attend and more manage these things. The ethos is not we listen and then do what you tell us, more you listen and do what we say.
The Police on the ground do a suberb job - with the tools we let them have. Our continued failure to address the criminal justice system means we are letting them down. It means whilst they may be able to detect these offenders - without the means to stop it happening again means the cycle of crime just keeps turning.
I fully agree it was absolutely right to try, it was also quite right to keep trying when the first signs of faiulure where apparent. However, now its time to take stock and change direction.
Sure, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs; but if you simply keep breaking them you just end up wasting eggs and time. Big issue when your customer is waiting for breakfast.
Please, lets address the criminal justice system, leaving out the unworkable modern nostrums and go back to methods that might have been painful - but did work.

But Policing has changed. Back when I was a lad there was a comminity beat officer in Wash Common called PC Stubbs. He used to ride around on his bike everywhere and woh be tide any kid on a bike that used to ride on the pavement. A visit to your parents and a cycling test later and you rode on the road - or else. Ony a little thing but it taught young people to respect the law. Now if you stop a kid on a bike riding agressively on a pavement and ask him what he is doing you will normally get a load of abuse...

Really can't see why people would waste there time and money throwing eggs=/ some complete idiots around these days! Get a cheap cover for your car this will probably make it a less attractive target.
