QUOTE (SirWilliam @ Jan 9 2020, 11:05 AM) New year greetings to the few that remain on here. I have a question that I hope the train users can answer.
I was asked to attend a court session in Guildford this Friday so duly popped into Newbury station and bought my ticket from a helpful ticket office who sorted out what train I needed, so I bought it there and then. Just been informed that my evidence is not required till Monday now. So boys and girls it states on the ticket that I can transfer my travel day for a "fee". Do I need to change it now or can I do it on Monday?
The National rail web page is about as helpful a colander in a soup kitchen. https://www.gwr.com/help-and-support/changing-your-ticketIt's a £10 fee and you can do it on the day although you might want to do it beforehand because there is often quite a large queue at the ticket office and obviously you wouldn't want to miss your train and be late for court.

Thanks for that. Just to allay any fears that I am about to be posted to the colonies I have been asked to attend as character witness so you are not getting rid of me that quickly. Incidentally it has been postponed once again so may be prudent to do it on the day.

QUOTE (Biker1 @ Jan 11 2020, 06:25 AM) If you return your unused ticket to the place where you purchased it on the day of travel shown on the ticket you can have a full refund. If you return the unused ticket after the day of travel shown you will get a refund minus a £10 admin charge. You would then have to purchase a new ticket for the day you intended to travel. Thank you Biker1. Thought it a bit steep to charge £10 but as my train experience of the present system is limited I saw no reason to question it. In response the TDH's assumption that I am guilty of some heinous crime all I can say is "No Comment!"

To update those who are remotely interested, the whole day was worthy of countless expletives. Firstly the initial ticket was subject to a refund less a £10 fee after submitting a multi-page application. Arrived in Guildford in good time , and spent an hour trudging round in torrential precipitation seeking a cafe for a bite and coffee. Fast food outlets by the score ,but ask for a cheese sandwich and one has more chance of procuring crack cocaine, (so I am reliably informed). Wandered into the courthouse and strip searched by a couple of chaps one wouldn't wish to argue with. Confiscated my pocket knife, (which I now have to apply to the court for), before escorting me to the waiting area. Eventually called after 3 hours, spent all of 5 minutes saying my piece and then back to station as the train was pulling out. Eventually arrived home at 19.30 completely *******. On a positive I now have made made a conscious decision not to help anyone but to become a miserable old git. Comments accepted.

I thought that I was having a bad week due to my washer dryer breaking and scratching the passenger side of my car on a lamppost but I think that you might have managed to trump that.

How did your washer dryer manage to scratch your car on a lamppost? Is it even insured to drive your car?
