I must be getting old; I live on the Manor Park estate and can't hear the rugby commentary over the top of the booming bass from Henwick Farm for tonight's firework display. It's just a tad intrusive.

I think this is the first nimby post I've made here. Slippery slope.

Fireworks don't start until 7pm!!! You should come along and enjoy it, don't let the nimby-ism get you ;-)

You are there, Richard? Doing the DJ bit? Cause of the noise?

I'm not sure if the speakers were facing the wrong way then (towards Manor Park), but it was very quiet when we got there at ten to seven. Pretty busy there, and the last few minutes of the main display were brilliant.

The concessions appeared to be pretty expensive though, maybe it's just inflation??

No, it was Chris Wright from Newbury Sound.

I think it's a bit off having a display a week late.

Televisions come with something amazing - adjustable volume. tongue.gif

I saw about half of the display from my flat and it was pretty good, but Call of Duty was better. Further more Fireworks happen only over a week or so period where as you can pause the Rugby, especially if you have Sky+ laugh.gif

"Remember remember the twelfth of November gunpowder, treason and plot."

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I think it's great that they didn't clash this year, the problem in previous years is that you had to pick which one to go to. As for the cost issues, it's not getting in that's a problem, the stalls and rides are very overpriced for the product they offer, I couldn't help but think the fair rides were ready to fall apart!!!
