I know some on here are not into football, but I hope our bid is successful, as Euro 1996 showed, it can only be a good thing for the nation.
Good luck England!

Good luck England! I reckon we will win the bid. We have a great team bidding for it and world class venues to hold the event. Becks should also walk away from this with a knighthood for services to sport.

QUOTE (pinkfluffyclouds @ Dec 2 2010, 02:57 PM) And with English "fans" behaving like this do you really think we deserve to host it. I don't like football but it makes my blood boil when people behave in this way. It seems they use football as an excuse to behave like animals. We have a bad reputation and I wouldn't want to attend a match for fear that these people have tickets and are going to kick off. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-11894728I saw that last night and agree that it was shocking to watch - especially the throwing around of flares with children around. But thankfully it was controlled quickly and these days a highly unusual incident caused by a minority of prats who were more than a little over excited by the circumstances - local derby and all that. But I think our reputation has vastly improved over recent years and trouble is at a minium - there's much more of a problem still I think in other countries. I occasionally accompany my Arsenal supporting other half to the Emirates stadium and have never witnessed any trouble - bit of good spirited rowdiness perhaps - but nothing that has ever made me feel unsafe. So yes - good luck England!

So we did not get past the first round despite having the strongest bid and the best stadia / infrastructure. You have to face facts. This is bordering on racist. Everyone hates England. Thats why we nearly always come last in the Eurovision song contest... I have an idea anyway. We invented football. Gave it to the World. Lets change the rules. Introduce a few new things to make the game even more exciting and tell FIFA to stick the game up there nether regions.. Amazing how many Roubles votes can buy you!

QUOTE (Iommi @ Dec 2 2010, 04:30 PM) For a while now, we have become a laughing stock in international football, so it is no surprise really. Add to that, we don't take international football seriously at club level either. You reap what you sow. Frankly, the World Cup is a farce anyway. It is an inferior product compared to, say, the Premiership. QUOTE (TallDarkAndHandsome @ Dec 2 2010, 04:36 PM) Or certain others WBC or The Police

QUOTE (GMR @ Dec 2 2010, 05:45 PM) I had a feeling we wouldn't win it (shame!) as we upset to many people with that Panorama programme. Speaking frankly, if what I have seen and read is true, I'm embarrassed that we grovelled like we did for it. Like the Olympics, we seem prepared to overlook corruption for the vanity of hosting such events. I'm please FIFA stuck two fingers up at us...bent trash.
