Just wondered how many of you have seen this year's festive offering in the Kennet Centre?

Normally, there is a nice montage of seasonal animals (bears, penguins etc) waving or generally looking Christmassy. This year we have a wild haired menacing, creepy character with a bare chest and suspect furry trousers holding some presents with a large piece of MDF furniture in the background. No, it's not a re-creation of Jimmy Savile (although that would be topical I guess) but is apparently a depiction from a scene in the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.

All I can think is that this year's 'budget' offering is sponsored by some of the shops in the Kennet Centre... the wardrobe certainly looks tacky enough to have come from Dull House and the wild man's trousers look like they may have come from the nearby Outlet shop.

Whatever...if you have been trying to gently acquaint your kids with the concept of 'nasty men' - this animation may be one you may wish to avoid!

Please bring back the cute cuddly next year Kennet!

You seem to be rather disparaging of the Kennet Centre & the shops in contains. If so, why are you in there???

Ho ho ho!!!...Where's your sense of humour?... tis the season to be jolly and this was a slightly tongue-in-cheek post. I've always liked the previous years' festive animations.

Why so defensive of the Kennet Centre - you own the shop which sells the furry trousers then???

In any case, who is not a fan of Poundland and the 99p shop!! wink.gif

Is Dull House a real name, or is that a pun on something else?

LOL, why is it, on this forum, if you stick up for something, it is automatically assumed you have a vested interest in what you are defending!

And why is it that when someone makes an observation about an odd looking Christmas animation, does some bright spark have to suggest intended criticism of the Kennet Centre per se???

I don't like this year's Christmas lights in Northbrook Street either but it has no reflection on the shops and I will continue to shop there.

As for Dull House (not hard to work that one out sad.gif ), it is an odious concept and should have no place in any town in my opinion. Don't blame KC for collecting the rent in these hard times though...beggars can't be choosers and all that.

You enjoy the splendid animation Dannyboy...LOL. smile.gif

They are not "this year's" they are the last god knows how many years and they are just as bad when they were first put up as they are now.
Unfortunately they do reflect on the shops making the whole scene even worse! tongue.gif

I thought the animatronic animals in a box was beyond the realms of cheap and tacky.
Cudos to West Berks for continuing to push the bar.

Don't suppose anybody has a photo of this cardboard abomonation for those of us in the business of staying clear of civilisation without good cause for exception?

They may not but I have no interest in anything Parkway as it is mainly women's shops, and as I have a new bank account have no reason to go there at all

Are you therefore saying that Parkway has no attraction to the male half of the population at all?
