I'm not going to answer that yet.
I think this is called having your bluff called. Again.

Not at all. Let's see what the council say.

If people are worried about being bullied by the council, I would imagine the last thing they would want is for Richard to reveal who they are! It would not do Richard any good from a political perspective either.

This isn't a politically motivated protest though, remember? wink.gif

I know (it is really), but that doesn't help anyone who is 'scared' of the council.

Why should anyone be scared of the council ? they are, lest we forget our servants.

Ask Simon Kirkby.

It might not be scared of the council as much as scared of not getting funding through prejudice.

To be honest, I have no interest in the HOC. Locally, I believe we are the only party who can bring an end to the chaos.

Victimisation is always an issue, but just as you say, if you want something from the Council you have to assume the position. I was free to protest because 1. I don't believe they can do anything to hurt me, and 2. there was nothing I wanted from them enough to collaborate.

This is what they call "working with the Council".

'Chaos' - What planet are you living on? To be honest I have noticed very little difference between the Lim Dem Council and the Conservative Council. Nothing has changed that affects me in any way. I know I don't use outreach centres or daycare centres but then I'm probably just an average bloke who works his bollox off trying to stay afloat in a sea of Financial mess left by the last LABOUR government.

The Lib Dem council is regarded by most as a disatser. The Tories got in because everyone thought they would do much better. The fact nothing has changed (and the financial situation is more than twice as bad as it was) is not a compliment to either!!!

And of course - Life would be wonderful under a Labour Council. The Sun would shine. No Wars. Just peace and love. And all the bills would be paid and their would be no debt. I just guess Council tax would have to rise to an average of £2000 per household in order to accomodate all the wonderful things you want to spend our money on.

Not at all, the Tories are planning to raise council tax by around 7% over the next four years. If we went with a 6.5% increase over four years (including the 2.%% that the Tories have done this year and the government are paying) we think we will be in a position to start groing at the end of our first term if elected. We will also protect day centres, youth clubs, libraries and kill the plans for the pavilion and wharf developments. So under a Labour council, we would save you .5% on what the Tories / council are looking to do!!! (and we won't hike parking charges to £2 an hour like the Lib Dems either)

Once the budget books are published, we will finalise our own financial plan for the next four years and publish it on our website.

I think redundancies will be a given, regardless of who takes over. Unfortunately, we have to make a further £28m of cuts in the next few years, what we would do is seek to protect key services which are the bigger employers so I would say we would make less people redundant than the others, but it's hard to confirm that without seeing a manifesto from the other parties.

I don't mind User23 really, if we get control of the council I hope he will be defending our administration as much as he does the existing one. The only change he will see is that the NewburyToday forum will be filtered on WBC computers so it can't be used during business hours!!! tongue.gif

Not members of staff posting during business hours when they are being paid from our taxes.
