Newbury Today Forum _ Random Rants _ TV Police going even softer in West Berkshire

I wonder what Commissioner Stansfield have to say about this development, as we
know so much crime is fuelled by druggies?
No doubt will result in the District being seen as even more attractive for County Lines drug mules. sad.gif

Very sensible. As long as no crime has been committed they should be helped. No one chooses to be an addict.

I will take issue with that statement; people become addicted for various reasons but very few are forced against their will. To blame society for the position they find themselves is insulting to the millions that do not go down that road. Maybe if we addressed the reasons for rather than debating over the position of the proverbial gate after, we may have a better chance.
What I do agree with is the principal of decriminalising those who are addicted providing they do not use illegal means to feed their habit but there is big money to be made and the dealers are not going to give up their trade and work in a local call centre without a fight.

Poor paedophiles. It's not there fault. It's an addiction.🤔

Well it appears Thames Valley Police agree with me so I'm really not too bothered what a couple of ultra right wingers think.

Ultra right wingers? If you lose a discussion this is the standard response from you. It's just in a word. SAD. Never mind.

Haha! I'm about as ultra right wing as Gandhi! Saddo either hasn't read the article or (more likely, doesn't understand it) "No crime has been committed? Oh really, since when was carrying class A drugs legal? Walter really is a dope! (see what I did there?) laugh.gif

It seems to me to be counter productive to confiscate it as won’t that increase the likelihood of them causing more crime to replenish their stock!

Wibble. Have you got a pair of underpants on your head and 2 straws up your nose? Or are you on day release?

Who blamed society? You appear to responding to Newres but they didn't mention it.

Given some of the language, some of the words and some of the attitudes I see on here, I think Ultra Right is a perfectly fitting term for some on here.

"They"? Is Newres a multi-national? The inference was that if society sees fit to punish then it is fair to assume that they will feel aggrieved if those who contravene the law are not made pay for their sins, and therefore are ultimately responsible for offenders still being at large. In an ideal world drug addicts would stay in their council funded dwellings and their particular poison would be delivered free gratis by Royal Mail but the world is far from that.

If you don't repeat the mantra " lets all hug a terrorist " you are marked down as "ultra right wing". I rather suspect if you did the maths the 'ultra left' has killed more than anyone else.

An addiction is a disease not a social construct.
