Fantastic turnout by people of all demographics.

One question.

With all the cubs, brownies etc assembling in Park way for the parade, how come the road was still open to traffic?

The groups had to move to The British Legion after about 10 minutes of gathering together because of safety concerns.

Did the organisers apply for a road closure order for Park Way?

Hence why I was asking aloud. wink.gif

As it was open, I'd guess they didn't. I thought the form-up location was Pelican Lane these days?

What he said....

Old habits die hard.. People are used to having to form up in ParkWay but can't they see that the car park in the middle isn't there any more?

Pelican Lane is where it should be...

Or was it that the Parade Orders (which I received 2 weeks ago) said "Parade assembles in Park Way 10:00"?

Pelican Lane does make a much better rallying point though.

The parents of cubs etc certainly were told Park Way.

Looks like an oversight by the organisers on what was otherwise a very moving and successful event.

........ a very moving and successful event.

Certainly was; and the more so with the large number of local dignitaries and the large numbers in the streets.

May I just add that the event in Thatcham was also a brilliant tribute. Well done to Thatcham Town Council who were very much involved in ensuring that the day past without hitch.

It was heartening to see so many in attendance at the Thatcham service. It seems to have been reflected across the country in general..

Quite funny to see ****'s angels in the parade. How establishment is that?

Even funnier when we were in a cafe at 11am..the manager asked for 2 mins silence, and this couple carried on stuffing their faces. After a minute, they clocked us all frowning and sat their in silence.

Not HellsAngels just local bikers who raise a lot of money with their charity rides.

I went to Sainsbury's on Saturday morning. I had mislaid my poppy and was expecting disapproving glances until I was able to obtain another. I needn't have worried. I went to the café first, which was packed. However I couldn't see a single poppy.

I just couldn't believe it: perhaps I had strayed into a parallel universe.
