I'm so glad I have stopped using the service for winter. This story reminds me how shat 'our' train service. Non-stop signalling failures. That could have been me tonight thinking how the fark do I get home now then!

Don't they have an emergency plan in place to organise an immediate replacement bus service? Any credible organisation has a "disaster plan" in place.

When you purchase a rail ticket you enter into a contract with the TOC part of which is a commitment to get you to the destination on the ticket. If this cannot be achieved by train then the TOC has to get you there by some other means if the problem is a fault with the railway (i.e. not your fault).
Unfortunately there is no guarantee of time on this but you must not be left stranded.

By the way, the problem was caused by the failure of a fairly new piece of equipment called an axle counter.
Modern technology eh!! rolleyes.gif

There isn't any point because it's someone else's fault and even if it isn't there is always the small print! Frankly, these are levels of customer service that would make a banker blush.

It hardly matters whose fault it is. If it happens, it happens. The time for recriminations is afterwards.

It was a complete shambles yesterday, I got caught up in it. Sorry but recriminations are more than justified because this sort of thing keeps happening and they never seem to have any effective standby. Good job we don't run our business like that.

They could always turn the railways into express roads for long distance busses and trailer lorries. I'll be in trouble for saying that too.

Yes, that's a good idea.
Lets turn them all into roads - then when you are held up in jams there would be no-one to complain about / to!
You would have to just sit in your car and listen to yourself cursing! tongue.gif

That undoubtedly would happen if you used the road daily, but at least you will be in a cosy and warm environment and it is made up with the idea that you can travel places spending less on fuel than you do on the price of a ticket.
