Is anyone else fed up with this Royal Wedding lead up to the event?.

Every news paper and radio station you listen to is full of this bloody wedding and who is turning up etc.

Why is it so special that the media have to spend so much time on it?

If you paid me 500 pounds to attend I would turn you down. Golf course for me all day. Its not like she is the blushing bride. Fit but been round the block a few times.😂

Quite simple; to take our minds off the rather more serious and pressing matters of state. Give them bread and circuses; the oldest trick in the book.

Never fails to amaze that these shindigs coincide with a lull in global events. The Korean handbagging on hold, Brexit has lost it's relevance and the sun is shining. Now that takes an element of planning that even the most rabid republican must grudgingly accept is pretty darned clever.
On a positive note it will all be over by Monday. cool.gif

"Round the block a few times"? Not so long ago they would have chopped your head off for even thinking such a thing. Still that's what comes of increasing liberalism. rolleyes.gif

ps Yes she is pretty "fit". dry.gif

An American divorcée, haven't we seen that before somewhere? How did that end I wonder? Still, another opportunity for the Mrs migginses of the world to go all "ooh, 'aint she luvly me old ducks" and go down the rose and crown for a pint of stout. And it'll give Pippa a chance to sell some more overpriced tat.

I see they are still banging on about the Windsor "homeless" being on public display this weekend. As there appears to very little difference, other than the obvious, between those who have no roof to call their own and those who choose to encamp overnight for the privilege of seeing a horse and carriage up close, may I suggest they round them all up and shut them away for the duration.

Brilliant! Hope Pippa does, keeps our economy boyant and at least these new age Royals are more up for paying their own way. As for the big event; what display anyone expect? Aimed directly at our transatlantic cousins who've gone for it big time. Brand Fergie is so 1980's now - same place as avocado bathroom suites and Jackie Collins! Stout?, what's that when it's at home?

I doubt if you will, simply because if any of them or their extended family try they are screeched down. For instance, look at the ongoing vilification campaign launched against the Middleton family.

I haven't seen that campaign, (do the middletons count as royalty?), but what I have seen is the younger royals doing less and less and being completely upstaged by the older ones.

I don't have a lot of time for any of them, there is literally no skill, or any achievement in being a royal. but I'm not really anti royal either.

I concur. They are a throwback to the past but they do contribute to the economy because enough foreign saps come over to do the whole royal thing. They more than pay there way by being "royal" but it still doesnt sit well. Entitlement by an accident of birth.

Weird isn't it, we want them but we don't like them! Born to privilege fits our ever popular MP too of course. To my way of thinking, if we really do want them to 'earn' we should capitalise on it too. We are supposed to be the Royal County after all; so why aren't we really pushing the Middleton connection hard? Why let Windsor take all the bunce?

As for the campaign against, ask Mr Murdoch, or better read the Amanda 'Tory party belle' Platell columns in West Berkshire's top selling daily paper, the Mail.

Nonetheless, whatever we might think about the Royal family; we are not seizing an opportunity - how very British!

One can just imagine how the Americans would manage the "brand" if it was theirs. I think it is a British "hair shirt" to embrace the whole royalty circus. Even when William of the dubious parentage took over the crown back in the 11th century the locals welcomed him. Fast forward 600 years and our one attempt at republicanism didn't last long. The Hanoverians were lampooned in the early days but with the introduction of the spin doctor syndrome along with a couple of world wars they are now this global image supported by the sycophantic hordes.
Been stated many times, if you want to replace the royal family just consider the possibility of a President Blair. laugh.gif

If we got rid of the royals it would at least free up a decent London address for comrade Jeremy and his henchmen.

No, far too scruffy for that, plus it needs major repairs.

Your right, comrade jeremy will need something much grander than that, sycophant towers?
