Interesting 'choice' stay at home or stay where we tell you .... but don't be late! Must admit, after a couple of years of significant rail disruption it's an odd project that hadn't put in sufficient contingency, but as you say, if you are can rich, it's easier to 'manage' the staff or wage slaves as JSC has it.

If i pitched up at midday tomorrow no one would bat an eye lid. Its about getting the job done. Not the hours you work. In fact I may just do that. 👍

So then, if you 'pitched up late' during a week's fairly minor travel disruption, you could still get the job done? Interesting management conundrum that, if you really think about it! I wonder if any of the Asia / Pacific software houses have sniffed an opportunity yet? So, enjoy it whilst you can.

Yes I could. Because they know I'd get the job done. Obviously your company has an issue with trust or perhaps they just don't trust YOU! laugh.gif I love my job and the people I work with. We party together. Love it.

Minor problem; I don';t work for a company. Nonetheless, its really good to hear about motivated employees; clearly in some cases corporate hype works. Again, just enjoy it; believe me, its not a privilege extended by many employers.

What trains are we going to have on our line?

Inter City services to the West of England and also, apparently, Paddington to Bedwyn, Class 802 in either 5 or 10 car formation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_802
First 802 services to W of E planned for mid summer.
Local services to Reading, and maybe London, class 387/1.

It may also demonstrate how much over the odds people might be paying for the service; business has a way of dealing with that.

Thanks. I haven’t heard glowing reports about 387s, I hope the 802s have a better rep. sad.gif

Here's an interesting blog of one person's opinion of them.

Oh well, they tried. The GWR logo is also interesting in as much as these units are remincent of the old GWR railcars that used to run to Lambourn and places - sometimes coupled together with the same consequences. It's also a pretty sad reflection of UK management - getting rid of safety and platform staff because of 'new developments' like automation but accept oddly designed new trains which appear to demand more staff. Presumably the plastic coffee servers are paid a lot less than guards.

I really don't understand this, its a train carriage, how difficult is it to get this right? I mean it's not like we haven't seen one before, we know how they work for god's sake! Its a long box, on wheels with two rows of seats, windows, throw in a couple of toilets and something to eat off and that's it! Job done!
But oh no, that's not how it works matey! Let's get a 'design team' with 'vision' to do this. What was the brief? Oh right, let's do a carriage with no windows, that'll frustrate the customer, then, let's make sure the seats are uncomfortable and to complete the dehumanisation let's make the toilets difficult to get to when it's busy and lets not forget to deny access to food and water! But the crowning glory will be? Ta Da! Not enough seats to go round! An award winner, right there!

And people wonder why? Why do we want to hold on to our motorcars?

Is there any chance this toilet of a station and service could make an announcement what the heck’s going on!!! Is the 20:07, or the 20:30 running or not!!! If so, where?

You might get in for 850 on the Plymoth train. Let the train take the strain....

Sorted; the 20:30 was running, but wasn’t put up on the board until the last minute or two. Bar stewards!

1901 diverted elsewhere. Waiting for the 1910 which us 5 minutes late; just been shifted from P1 to P3. 3 coaches for a full platform; brilliant.

GWR are not even a joke.
