Yes driven on by the now Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, a power crazed woman from a power crazed family.
Her comments about Boris Johnson during referendum show her to be unfit for public office.

Yes; it was called a 'free market'; or flog your utilities to protected European ones...

It was the coal and oil-fired part that was closed. The less-polluting natural gas-fired station is still active.

What did Amber Rudd say about the clown who is now foreign secretary then?

After they had spent money on converting it to biomass firing.

I must admit, I have a deal of sympathy with the people questioning why Didcot was demolished in the first place. The energy industry is supposed to be driving 'sustainability' so why isn't the kit and building not reused? A bit like austerity at Newbury Town Council 'doesn't apply to us Guv'.

The CEGB had a big fight to get the place put up in the first place, and as far as I can see, a good few of us are still using electricity.

Yes I know.

Until that runs out!

As OTE says, nearly everyone uses electricity to a greater or lesser degree even "environmentalists".
There is no totally environmentally friendly way of producing it so...........
1. We accept the above and continue to generate it, solar, nuclear, shale, coal, oil, gas, hamsters in a wheel!

2. We stop using so much or stop all together.

While considering the above please bear in mind the population of the world continues to rise unabated.

Dismantling our power stations in this rush to get rid of 'dirty energy' was mad... especially as the turbines were sent off to Germany - a country that considers itself a beacon of all things Green - where they generate the majority of their power from coal.. Germany is one of the dirty men of Europe, who'd have thunk it..

Certainly not the Green Party who consider Europe to be the bastion of environmental morality. Never mind we won't be able to afford to run electrical goods after November so power generators will not be required. All those shiney new battery cars will be sat rusting away in an Oxfordshire field as a monument to political ineptitude. laugh.gif
