Driverless vehicles will help loads. They will stick in the proper lane for starters. You could put 40 lanes in but if everyone stays on the right the queues stay as they are.

Euthanasia for the over 65s is the way forward. My problem is not so much the rise of the computer, as you say it's been around for some time now, but the "APP". This insidious nonentity seems to be at the heart of everyday life yet at best is a shortcut for those who can't be bothered to access their needs in a more conventional manner and at worst a collector of personal data that Orwell's thought police would have relished. By all means use one if that is your "bag" but don't force it on those who find it a tad tedious.

What? That's like saying bicycles are a pain and designed for people who can't be bothered to walk! Telephones are there for people who are too lazy to write a letter! These things are here because they are efficient and save time. They're also easier most of the time if you're prepared to work. Sadly the generations born around the 50's to the 70's are entitled and work shy and fought against progression (generalisation obviously), so computers, and technology even now are frowned upon by more people than embrace them. And you don't have to use the app, use the machine or ask in the office!

Where are the refugees supposed to live? Detention centre? Hotel? Or perhaps you think they should be put at the top of the housing lists....If people that want mass immigration volunteered spare rooms I'd have more sympathy for these opinions. NIMBY.

Maybe those people didn't want to go and bomb the cr4p out them in the first place leaving them in need of a place to go!

We have loads of smart motorways where I live and I travel on them all the time. Nothing Smart about them, they are a complete waste of time and money and are just as congested as they were before. Safety wise, if there is a breakdown they just close that lane and it happens almost immediately so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Oh the "ubiquitous" app. Yet another example of isolating the "older" generation from getting a better deal. I do not wish to appear Luddite but what is wrong with a person or machine that provides simple to comprehend information? If I wish to travel at peak times then I am prepared to pay full price, but I do not expect to be charged full price off peak just because I press the wrong button or do not ask the ticket office the right question.

The "older" generation need to sort themselves out. I cam across a 50 year old the other day who couldn't do basic computer tasks, she literally pressed the mouse against the screen when I told her to click on something! I have recently been involved in a grievance meeting because an employee of ours didn't consider email proper communication because you "can't sign for it"! how long have computers been around??

Just a short story if anyone is interested that is sort of relatable. I didn't know but there is no defined off peak start time, and I had to travel back up north from Reading after a recent visit. I got to Reading station well before 6 am and spoke to the guys on the gate. They couldn't give me a time for the start or end of the morning peak period but let me onto the platform. They said if I spoke to the train manager they would b able to clarify whether or not I could travel. So I boarded a virgin train and set to finding the manager about 5 minutes before departure. The train left bang on time with me on it, and so i was already in motion by the time I found her. She advised that to upgrade my ticket would cost me about £120 and I had to pay that to continue. Obviously I wasn't prepared to pay that so she said I would have to leave at the next stop, Oxford, and get an off peak train from there. Fair enough, but she then wrote on my ticket that it was not to be used before 10:30. I asked why as that was so much later, and she said I had already stolen an hour of their time, and I owed them that back. She said if I had waited for the first off peak from Reading, I wouldn't have gt there till 10 o clock so why should I be allowed to travel before then?

She has the letter of the law on her side I guess, but these rail companies don't help themselves at all.

I'm not prepared to give rebel media any sort of "views", or listen to anything that vile woman Katie Hopkins has to say. I'm still annoyed that those people who had the opportunity to help when she had that fit stepped in.

I'd vote Labour in a flash, in fact I have done twice in recent times. And once for the greens at the locals. I work in Manchester so voted up here in my weekday address which is a different demograph of people.

If we didn't have religion we wouldn't have half these problems, I was told by a Tommy Supporter the other day that you "don't hear of paedophilia in the C of E, or catholic church do you?"

So as much as I am a fairly liberal, left leaning individual, I am totally against Islam. But I am also against all churches and religions, and group that associates with them. Governmental, or otherwise. Seperate church and state, make religions pay tax and stop the undue influence they have and all this goes away.

I havent read a lot of posts on here but at the point Tommy Robinson was arrested, the defendants hadn't been charged. Therefore they are not rapists, groomers or anything else, they are citizens just like the rest of us. That is the very crux of the issue really, because that seperates Robinson from other journalists and sums up why he isn't just doing the same as the others.

Hes not a reporter either is he? And those two clowns from Britain First are in prison for incorrectly "reporting" on another trial, which put innocent people and their families at risk.

I haven't seen that campaign, (do the middletons count as royalty?), but what I have seen is the younger royals doing less and less and being completely upstaged by the older ones.

I don't have a lot of time for any of them, there is literally no skill, or any achievement in being a royal. but I'm not really anti royal either.

Well first up it's the daily mail so take it with a line of salt

Secondly I it is just as destructive as alcohol, and gives a similar heightened feeling of confidence and agitation

and thirdly it destroys communities where it is farmed and processed so it should not be shrugged off.

Read that on BBC site couple of weeks ago? And if I remember on the independent? VIZ! Is that still going? How's Billy the fish?

Again, we can all say we've read something - it doesn't count though without some back up!

And Billy is still in goal, although he was manager for a bit when the other one retired!

It's cited in various newsfeeds boy. If your too lazy or stupid to do research then that's not our problem. And Via is about your level for political commentary.

If it's in various newsfeeds then just supply a link! I did my research, and it isn't in loads of news feeds because this issue keeps changing and everyone keeps blaming everyone else.

You just keep bleating your opinons out and citing them as fact. That is both lazy and stupid.

You prick.

Why because you said it is? You cite your opinion as fact an awful lot on here.

If you google it the only place other than you that says it is the sun. If that's considered a reliable source of information then I'm gonna start quoting Viz.

I don't see how what you are saying relates?

The OP implies that all the signs and warning weren't seen. That isn't the case.

https://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/news/24...r-bollards.html

Maybe read the story and get the facts first!

It says that the bollards have not been working properly and in some instances have been operated manually. On one occasion they had been returned to their up position, manually, whilst a vehicle was going through.
