Sign of the times. Just remember for an incompetent politician to reach office it requires an equally obtuse electorate to support them. Even Putin is liked within Russia so learn to live with what comes along. When the icecap melts, the amazon rainforest is destroyed and food is about as rare as a faberge egg in a junk shop it won't make any difference to who is in charge, we will all perish. angry.gif

Smile, things could be worse

Think it through. If we charge, they will charge. Inflationary. Goods will go up in price already.

They already do. Carnets for certain countries, toll roads in others.

All charging would do is level the playing field a little.

There’s no personal data on here. TDH is being TDH.

Wrong.

I don't think you know what "personal data" defines.

Your username/password are stored; otherwise you couldn't log on! You gave a real-world, active email address (and other data) when you first signed up and you may have created a profile.

Your IP address (and probably MAC address) will be stored. Your posts are stored.

Under current data protection regulation, you have a right to be forgotten; which means all your posts/login/etc. have to be deleted

I proof read a notice submitted to NWN for my mother.

She went by the name of Michal (which is a feminine spelling); NWN took it upon themselves to "correct" this to Michael, which provides an interesting family tree!

NWN were not in the least bit interested when I complained

The public didn’t vote for “no deal”. Find a single instance of a Leave campaigner that said we’d leave with no access to the single market or we’d remove frictionless trade. Find a single instance of a Leave leader saying we’d be worse off.

You don't need a Leave campaigner to say it. The Government's own propaganda made it very clear. No single market, no customs union, etc.

Utter tosh!

Welsh first; British second and I remember the days before the Chunnel when the Continent used be cut off from civilisation due to fog. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

These and the seemingly inevitable European elections will be ABC* elections.

* Anybody But the Conservatives

I certainly won't bother to vote at the local elections - they are all a bad as each other - none of the above.

And just to add to all these 'hard border' confrontations:-

1) the UK (inc NI) and Eire have the Common Travel Agreement (CTA) which long predates the EU;
2) the NI Peace Process (aka the Good Friday Agreement) requires that Stormont be a party to any changes to the border, etc. Problem is, Stormont isn't sitting since being dissolved due to Sinn Fein's sulking.

It will stop people getting vicarious pleasure from it or children seeing it. I remember a work colleague watched the Ken Bigley murder video as an act of bravado and was very upset by it. In my opinion particularly as the person filmed it in order to live stream, extra effort should be made to get rid of it wherever it appears. Just like the executions of Westerners.

Perhaps older children need to see this sort of thing.

It may help them understand that real life doesn't have a Restart key, unlike their virtual reality games

Don't drink the kool aid..

You think that correcting my grammar will impact the message. NO!!!

I bet your one of these people who hide behind their keyboards. The fact is people were illegally camping, and caused damaged.

If you would to do that, what would happen? Your sorry *** would be thrown into jail.

I have empathy for their lifestyle, and support that there should be locations set aside where they can go, but if they go someplace that impacts the greater community, then no empathy here.

Is mugs like me, and possibly you, who pay their fair share and now have to pay the extra to fix their mess.

The council and police should work together. Clamp all their **** vehicles and don't release them until they pay a fine and go.

Firstly. I was correcting your spelling; not your grammar.

I do not simply hide behind a keyboard; any more than any other posters on the forums.

In fact, I would have no strong objections to illegal encampments like this being cleared by dogs (and maybe flame throwers to disinfect the site at the same time) with all vehicles seized and crushed.

I agree about your comment regarding social media.

However, I also tend to believe that as an adult, I should decide what I do or do not watch on any media. I am not a believer is censorship by "authorities".

Whether or not I want to see people being killed in (or near) live time should be a matter for me. Perhaps if more people saw the raw and bloody footage of killing in wars, we might have a few less people so willing to commit troops to places like Iraq

Unfortunately no one agrees with you except rabid leavers.

So are we just going to let goods through at our ports?

That's what tariff free means.

There would be no more requirement to check than exists at present

Just to be clear, I am (and voted) pro-Brexit but I have never been rabid

Now I'm confused, are we? Or not? Short extension? I've just applied for a green card now because I can't trust this government not to crash out. Next stop is international driving permit and of course my travel insurance has gone up.

I'd be interested to know if your insurance company is trying to charge for a Green Card. In theory, they have already had the premium for driving in the EU in your original quote for the current year's insurance

If we just walked everything leaving our ports would need to be checked, we’d have no aircraft arrangements, we’d have a huge gulf in our security, we’d have no trade arrangements with non EU countries and so on. If you can’t see the impact of that then you aren’t very bright. I’m assuming however that you’re simply fooling about. Fortunately idiots on Facebook and other social media outlets aren’t in control.

Absolute rubbish.

The only additional checking at ports will be if the EU so demands it on entry to the EU. Calais have said they are already ready for this. Aircraft movements would not cease - this myth was put to bed months ago. It is the EU that would have a huge gulf in its security as they would no longer have access to our 5 eyes intelligence. Our security is comparatively easy - we are an island! We already have trade agreements with non-EU countries; these would be rolled over (as Liam Fox is currently doing) or negated by tariff free WTO terms.

Of course they will be an impact - otherwise why bother leaving at all. But I believe that it's a positive impact in the long term

I don't really understand how anyone can think they can just roll up and camp out in Victoria Park.

I do understand that the travelers prefer a nomadic lifestyle, but there are set sites where travelers can go to. The amount of money that will be spent cleaning up, policing, etc should come from fines by clamping vehicles for parking and camping in locations that is not zoned for such activities.

Yes, all holy **** would break out if this happens, but no one is really doing anything to prevent this from happening.

I think you mean "They're back", not "Their back"

Since this isn't yet European law, we won't have to abide by it anyway since we will be out of the EU by the time it is...

Also, Biker1 is absolutely correct. The necessary software patches would soon be available. Not sure how the Germans are going to take to it as they still have kilometres of unrestricted autobahn - although there is already a 'voluntary' limit amongst large manufacturers to set the limiter at 155 mph.

and it is very sloppy reporting anyway. MEPs can only affect EU law, not European law.

It's not nonsense sonny, after the war Germany was rebuilt, primarily by us, we poured money into the country in a humanitarian effort because we didn't want it to be a perpetual basket case.

Strangely, my recollection is more of the Marshall Plan and loads of US monies.

I will concede that Volkswagen grew out of the ashes of the war due to the foresight of a British Major at the time.

Don't worry comrade Corbyn is going to "end" homelessness. I guess he is going to have kidnap squads for the ones that choose to live on the streets and turn down offers of help!

Don't be silly; this simply not the Hard Left way.

Homelessness will be redefined in "Newspeak" and thus be got rid of at the stroke of a pen
